Inspiration from the shower!

So from my ideas in the shower, as one often gets ideas there, I thought of a few things some hawken players might enjoy.

A medic type ability to be used on classes and perhaps an engineer type ability/class.
(no i don't play tf2 :P)

So the medic could be a normal mech, A,B, or C, but he could have an extra repair drone. a Mobile reinforced one that he can target players with and it will heal the for a specific amount and time. If he doesn't target anyone it uses it on himself. It could also have health and be shot from the sky by enemies also. It would have to not impede player movement however whether high in the sky or close to payers.

Another way could be a certain weapon that has 2 functions, a short range weapon that deals damage and a short range welder type tool that heals allies. I'm more for the mobile reinforced drone personally as it fits the theme more.

Another way is something like a turret but different, it drops a small pillar that has an AOE that will heal nearby allies a certain amount before it drains of all it's enegy. It can also be destroyed by enemies.
(would function almost like a repair orb but be more powerful as it would be an ability)

The engineer I din't get nearly as many ideas of of however.The ones i did however some players might like.

They could have an ability that drops mines possibly_ they could also be remote detonated by the mech if they are close enough to the mine.

Or they could have an ability similar to an EMP that would be a AOE burst from the mech either shutting down weapons or just having them act up and generate more heat/fire slow. It could turn off the HUD but still let players fire.

They could have a smoke bomb or a smoke launcher that obscures enemy vision

Possibly a thermal vision ability. If they had thermal vision perhaps it could also combo with a weapon/ added ability that heats up player weapons (they would know which player has the hottest weapons due to the vision)


These two classes/abilitys/items add another "team" play aspect and add much more dynamic to play.
I've listed a few ways they could be implemented, which ones do you think are the best if you like any at all_

They did announce a healing beam weapon somewhere, I'm sure someone will have the link. It works like your idea - 2 modes, one damage one healing.

Hmm... I don't know if it's been mentioned outside of Fight Club, but suffice to say it's not been thought on already to some extent.

Then yep, suffice to say, the Repair Torch will likely find its way in eventually and that pretty much wraps the OP's suggestion. :P

I've always enjoyed medic type classes to play as but they have to be useful enough to get used and not blown apart and not too good so that they become necessary to every team game type
