I just completed a fresh install of Hawken on a new Alienware M14xR2 and I have the no audio device detected bug again. Last time was during beta2. I have uninstalled and reinstalled Hawken and have the latest Soundblaster drivers from Dell installed. Sound works fine in other games. Mike works and player voices can be heard. No game sounds available.

At the start of beta3 I was running on a different M14xR2 (the one that had sound problems in beta2) and the sound card was detected and working with the exception of some random bad static issues related to a deployed MG turret being attacked on Uptown map.

I am at a loss as to how to proceed. No game sound is a bit of a handicap.

Got something for you to try.

I'm assuming Win 7.

Goto sound control panel.  Go to speakers, select properties, goto advanced tab, uncheck "allow applications to take exclusive control over this device".

Same thing for the mic in the recording tab.

I had to uncheck that to get my xbox360 headset mic working (in the recording area).

Thanks for the suggestion, but no joy. The other lalptop mysteriously showed the soundcard data when beta3 started. On this one there is no data in the client other than the error message. Unchecking the control button had no effect on the detection or sound in game.

And yes, Win 7 (Home Premium).

Reinstalled the UE3Redist package and the problem has been corrected.
