Which would be to include the shortened topic of the latest thread and clicking on it, to direct the user to the latest post of the thread.

Anyhow, the little green rectangle is barely visible here at my end. Blame my color settings and/or monitor if you want. So, most of the times, when what you do see a linked nickname on a forum around, you're usually directed to his or her forumite profile.
And by the way, the input textboxes under the forum standard Hawken theme are hard hardly delimitable due that these are shown in black over black. Hope this helps once more.
