[Hallowed_Judgment]

Hello everyone, I am a old mech vet but i can learn the new ropes in how a game is played. my tag is currently Hallowed_Judgment. I have heard of Hawken for some time now so wanted to come and see how it is and now here am i so i am. I am ready to play and have fun. From what i see, i like the style and look of the game. Yes i have played MWO. Its fun but its definietly a niche of a game.

Welcome to Hawken!

Just be aware that Hawken is a different game to FPSs, and not at all like the Mechwarrior sim franchise. It has a learning curve and its own game mechanic. As long as your expectations are set, you should be fine. Also, keep in mind that it's still in beta so things might not work perfectly all the time, but the devs are working hard to improve Hawken every day.

oh i know, and thank you for the welcome Elix. I am unbiased when it comes to betas since i know they take quite a bit to get going.

Yep, Which is a welcome thing if your a gamer. and not really Arnie. Its rather calm for a mid december wait untill Jan. or feb then come back to me.

haha, Visited Colorado in feb a few years ago ... was chilly as heck then XD

If it makes you feel better we're looking at a few feet of snow for Tuesday night into Wednesday. Been pretty warm and mild as of late. Love those sunny days.

Yay_ I live in Aus ... its summer now, we never get any snow unless its on the ski mountains XD.

Colorado.. I love the weather sometimes... its absoluety bipolar. one day its sunny.. then its raining/snowing.. then they look another beautiful day!... but yeah.. anything i need to worry about for Hawken_

Nope, no worries. Gameplay is pretty steady around 80-90 ping on both W and E coast. Though I would kill to have sub-50. I've heard talk about different region servers possibly being added in the future -- round the time that server rental becomes available. Movement is pretty important in this game so be prepared for some hiccups. Otherwise it feels great.

How are the weapon balances Or am i forced to use one weapon sets over another_

The way it currently stands now, weapons work like this:

1. You cannot change your secondary. At all.

2. You begin with the default primary for the mech (they aren't all the same). At level 7, you unlock your primary weapon slot and can change it for the alternate primary (also varies by mech). At level 25, you unlock your prestige weapon, but it also costs some Hawken Credits to unlock and use. (Sharpshooter does not currently have a prestige weapon, all of the other mechs do.)

3. With the exception of the prestige weapon, all unlocks are automatic and free.

As for weapon balance, that gets into very subjective (and hotly debated) territory.

Aha! Man am I lucky, finding an intoduction from fellow Coloradan just as I'm about to do so for myself! I'm pretty much a noob when it comes to FPS's, a little skill here and there in TF2, Counterstrike, T:A, and DayZ. I'm pretty big into anime, music, and anything refrence-y. I hope I can be a valuable contributor around here.
