Getting a new GPU

Thats 163.4 F. I consider that hot. When my GPU's get into the 50's I start kicking up the fans on my cooling profile. On the stock cooling profile, they are still at 30% usage, but my profile is more exponential, and set to 100% by 70 C

I wouldn't worry about it. The usual Max temperature before forced computer shutdown is 100-120 degrees. Newer graphics cards just get as hot as 80 and are fine. My 660TI's are hitting 76 at ~100% utilisation and my 5970 got upto 78 on 100% utilisation, and that was cooling 2 GPUs.
Thank god Nvidia fixed their GPUs after Fermi, those nukes were hitting 100 degrees ... someone tried to boil an egg on a 480, lol
FYI I use Celsius

Turned the fan up to 90% and it was down to 60C in thirty seconds. Hawken typically runs the GPU at about 55C when the fan's going at 80-90%.

Your system is a beast as is, I would not upgrade that awesome of a system for a buggy game like Hawken. Since you're willing to drop $1000 on a video card, then let's try something cheaper:-
-Buy a cheap HDD/SSD or find one that is not in use (it will be formatted!)
-Get a copy of Windows 7 x64 (if you don't have one, scour the internet and find one, 30-day trial will do)(NO RESTORE DISCS!)
-Get drivers downloaded and put into a USB flash drive or burn it onto a disc. Here are the drivers:-
-Intel Chipset: http://downloadcente...ftware&lang=eng (choose exe version)
-AMD Graphics: http://www2.ati.com/...dd_ccc_whql.exe
-Realtek Audio: http://www.majorgeek...in_8_d5513.html
-Intel Ethernet: http://dlcdnet.asus....XPVistaWin7.zip
-Shut down your PC.
-Temporarily disconnect your current Windows drive.
-Install your cheap, temporary drive.
-Turn on the computer and format the drive you just connected (the test one)
-Install Windows onto it
-Once installation is done, then install the drivers on the USB or Disc that you previously obtained. (DO NOT INSTALL OTHER APPLICATIONS!)
-Then install Hawken and see how it plays.
I'd rather you go through with this first BEFORE you decide to drop big bucks on some flashy Nvidia card, whose king crown will be taken away in the next 6 months. I mean, I'm running this game fine and my specs are far below yours. If this works then your wallet will thank me, and so will you

Those who are skilled in combat do not become angered, those who are skilled at winning do not become afraid. Thus the wise win before the fight, while the ignorant fight to win.
