Great posts everybody! Keep it up It's fascinating learning about each other through our avatars.

I have changed my original avatar, and while I have kept my overall theme in check, I hope that this new avatar is a more accurate portrayal of my character and personality in the forum. The last one felt a bit too menacing in a way, what with the stare and all. Besides, I've always liked this unit better anyways.

My avatar, for those that recall, used to be M.E.G.A.S. from M.E.G.A.S. XLR. An over-the-top short lived cartoon that aired back in 2004. Check it out on youtube before those get yanked down for reasons that don't make sense (seriously...the show isn't on the air anymore in the U.S. Unless its gonna go out on DVD or Blu-ray sometime soon, what's the problem_). I enjoyed the show immensely (still do), and loved using that avatar. But I decided that I wanted something that I could call my own, so I pulled up MS Paint and Photoshop and got to work.

The blue, jagged "S" stands for Shadow, obviously. It's blue because I like using that color on the trim of my mechs. The jagged look along with the mosaic tile design is meant to represent a cloaked, shadowy substance, like something that could easily disappear into the darkness and reappear in any location that is devoid of light. The gear in the background represents the GTR portion of my handle. I appreciate high-performance cars, and so the gear is representative of an automotive gear, like in a transmission. It is blurred slightly for several reasons: 1) It looks cool, 2) it gives the appearance of striations on the metal, 3) it gives a sort of cloaked appearance to it. 4) It blends(and hides) my attempts at striations that I put on the gear in MS Paint (I'm a rookie with photoshop....). The black background represents the shadows, and my avatar coming out of it.

All in all, it turned out well, I think. The base design of the gear and the background came from MS Paint, the rest I did in photoshop. I came across some very cool effects that I added to both the gear and the 'S'. After much trouble, I was finally able to place the 'S' directly over the gear and call it done.
