Please note that the NVIDIA APEX destruction will not be available in the upcoming patch. That's a prototype demo environment that we've been working on and it's not ready for final release yet. It was playable at PAX East and is also playable at GDC this week too.

The upcoming map is officially called FRONT LINE, not Valk as Valk was just an internal name. We are all looking forward to getting this patch out and there is an additional feature which may pop its head in as well that we haven't discussed yet...

On the subject of Chassis, I must say I have yet to see one I do not like. There are some I like more than others, but I really like every chassis I have seen. Yes, I have seen the X-bot chassis.

The demo map has no name, I was indeed speaking about the new map. It's called FRONT LINE because Prosk is essentially on one side of the map and Sentium on the other... Two distinct environment styles with the AA right smack in the middle.

We will refuse to call it Front Lines. And Isnt Sentium and Prosk on either side of the maps anyway. This is just a situation where the internal name is better than the name you give the map on release. I Shutter to think what you will call Facility.

With Valkyrie (Front Lines [feels so dirty saying it that way]) Its a city and as such the name Valkyrie fit as if saying the name of the city was Valkyrie. Front Lines just doesnt work the same was as Valkyrie did.

Yes, but visually there are two sides on Front Lines. Having said that, I'll probably always call it Valk as well :mellow:

This is the edit from my last post but decided it warranted its own post so i cut and pasted it.

Its the same with the map Prosk. It shows a City scape which was originally named Andromeda. Now the name Andromeda fit because we took it as thats what the city was called. With Bazzar it was Originally Sahara. Sahara made sense because it was a desert. Bazzar doesnt really fit with me because where is the market place on the map. A Bazzar is a marketplace.

To me it seems as if Valkyrie would be something of whats left of a Crion city and both Sentium and Prosk are fighting over it.

So we can argue all day about what mechs are and aren't balanced in terms of their power (raider MIRV needs spread, EOC direct dmg too fuzzy bunny, hellfire knockback - wtf man). The devs can tweak these values until the end of time - that's all well and good.

What the addition of the technician will (hopefully) accomplish is some balance in terms of player skill. Right now there isn't a mech out there that is so easy to use that there's a chance a first time player will have the ability to place the top three while at the same time not having such a high skill cap that the most experienced players will be unstoppable in it.

What a mech like this will do is help to prevent, (or maybe fix) Hawken from being "a small community of veterans churning through new players at an alarming rate" (http://www.penny-arc...ncing-for-skill). I'm pretty sure none of us want this.

Is a healer the right choice for this need in Hawken right now_ Maybe not - but lets not discount the potential benefit this can have on the player base before we see it in action.

Err... now I'm not saying this is true, because I don't know for sure, but if it is, holy fuzzy bunny that sounds busted.
Turret mode brawler, anyone_  Also, did we really need another A class that's insta-gibbed by burst damage_  No love for C class still.

No opinion on New Valkyrie until I play it, either.
