I received my email today but did not get the key, but long ago I signed up to receive it I can do to win_

No, I won't give my key away once I get it. I signed up long ago (so long that I even forgot this existed until I got the mail).

If you read the email properly, it said that the forums are new and that the members that signed up 20 odd years ago should come in and UPDATE their account info.

You don't need a forum account to sign up, just an e-mail (and then start spamming your referral link on Facebook).

It probably has little to do when you signed up. I bet those who spammed social networks with free advertising for the game got put at the front of the line when it came time to choose testers.

but .. me has used and does not have since jesterday D:
