Anyone remember this car_ This is the first supercar I can remember of when I was just a child watching the Pink Panther TV show and.. voilà. There it was, this Pinifarina design which was driven in the TV show by a child as well. :)

As much as I love Lamborghini for their designs, my number one dream car has pretty much always been the McLaren F1.

That center driver's seat design makes me want to drive one SO BAD!!!

They're bringing out a new one soon actually (20 years later). It's called the P1 this time - you can see the design influence but to me it lacks so much of the aggresive brilliance of the original.

these are by no means super cars (no fence). These are concept cars.
Although super cars have a slightly ambiguous performance specification, some of the first were lambos (Miura) and the mid engined ferraries.

These two were real cars. Only some few units were fabricated though.  Do you realize on that we're talking about the 60's / 70's, right_ :)

They are primarily a formula 1 racing company, so they have been focusing on that mostly, as far as I know. This was actually their inspiration for the center driver's seat in the F1, along with its name. But they also have the mp4-12c and P1 as newer, street legal models.

Their newer cars do lack a lot of the elegance of the F1. It was so simple, and yet so amazing. The mp4-12c and P1 also both lack the center seat design that was a major part of what makes the F1 my favorite. Though, that P1 is still one sexy beast, especially with a paint job like this:

Posted Image

The P1 is also interesting because it has both a V8 internal combustion engine, and an electric motor. So it is basically a Hybrid supercar.

And while on the topic of Mclaren, I thought we could use a reminder of just why the P1 will never be an F1:

FYI, McLaren isn't doing the center drive because it is very difficult to get in and out of for one thing, and another when you have to think about passengers. By today's standards of hyper cars, the f1 is not so good. Flat out speed is ok, but it is in the corners is where most of these hyper fast cars fall short. You will almost never find a place that you could hit most of these cars top speed.

It's a logically fallacious tactic used to try and discredit any opposing opinion that may follow, by claiming dissenting opinions are just flaming and that those opinions are worth less than their own. Whether people use this tactic habitually as a defense mechanism, or intentionally because they secretly understand the weakness of their claims and the backing logic, I don't know.
