Well, now that Hawken is coming to Steam, we could have an interesting new way to submit, vet, and integrate community-created maps, cosmetics, and other items if Hawken allows Steam Workshop integration.

Do we want this_

How can you support a decision when no decision has been made. You mean you support the suggestion_

Anyway. I highly doubt this would come to Hawken. I would be surprised if it did.

Think about it. If you pay to get cosmetics in the game, why would they allow people top just make their own on the workshop_ Pretty terrible business idea if you ask me.

And user made maps_ Nah I'm alright thanks.

I'd love this idea actually, it lets the creative juices flow through players brains and makes them love Hawken more by making it better!

I don't know how the workshop works with other games, so I'll use TF2 as the example:

- Community creates assets
- Community upvotes assets to be implemented
- Assets go on sale in the in-game store
- Creator and Game developer share profits

So for Adhesive it equates to; additional revenue for next to no effort on their part. Seems like a pretty sweet deal to me.

You do realize that some of us players are AAA developers aswell, and would gladly belch out content week after week for a game like Hawken_

Not to mention games like TF2 and Counterstrike, ...and the ENTIRE MOBA GENRE which includes one of the most popular games of all time, started out as mods and community made content.

I would like this but only for custom mech camo's and other visual effects like that. If you would submit a map i can see issues with it when 1 person in the battle not able to join cause he doesn't have the map.

Although I would love to see this, it will never happen. It's to difficult to integrate something like that since they opperate on compleatly seperate systems.   The logistics  are  just too difficult.  Also it has been said that they are not going to use user submitted content

What do you mean_
There is no need to implement something new or wire anything together. They can ship the picked and approved content later with patches, as they already do it.

They have also said other things and then reversed their opinions.  It could still happen, especially if Meteor sees the potential for "$$ in" without "$$ out."  Letting your community make things and filtering the submissions is much less costly than paying a team of designers year after year.

I personally imagine that Hawken might want to keep things locked down for a little while after launch to establish a "look and feel" for the game before opening it up to the Steam Workshop.

Exactly this... HWK would be stupid to not embrace this later down the line.

I would love to have the ability to design my own cosmetics just to pimp out my mech and sell them for some pocket changes. If the devs can figure out a way to implement the workshop in the game, I'd jump on creating content for Hawken pronto!

To be honest, I expected Hawken to do this ever since I recieved news of a Steam release. After all, Steam is all about community and who would know more about what the community wants than the mentioned community_

I thought of this when I was starting Hawken yesterday. We need cosmetics on the workshop. Now, how do we get this topic shown to a.) more users and b.) the devs_

The devs are aware of this topic. We talked about this with the community manager ZamboniChaos on the last European Mech Pilots episode.
