Hawken should have controller support for gamepads (This is normally Xbox360 controller). I myself am using a "power a pro elite wireless ps3 controller" with the program "Xpadder" to key everything. I just think it would be much better if the game supported Xbox360 and maybe PS3 controllers naturally. :)

This is a Xbox360 controller layout I made for any one that needs it.

  PS3:
Cross = Spacebar
Circle = C
Triangle = E
Square = M

R1 = Mouse Scroll Up
R2 = Right Mouse Button
L1 = Mouse Scroll Down
L2 = Left Mouse Button

Right Analog = Cursor
Click Right Analog = Middle Mouse Button

Left Analog (Down) = S
Left Analog (Right) = D
Left Analog (Up) = W
Left Analog (Left) = A
Click Left Analog = Left Shift

Directional Down = F
Directional Right = Z
Directional Up = Left Control
Directional Left = Q

Start = Esc
Select = Tab

Xbox360:
A = Spacebar
B = C
Y = E
X = M

Right Bumper = Mouse Scroll Up
Right Trigger = Right Mouse Button
Left Bumper = Mouse Scroll Down
Left Trigger = Left Mouse Button

Right Analog = Cursor
Click Right Analog = Middle Mouse Button

Left Analog (Down) = S
Left Analog (Right) = D
Left Analog (Up) = W
Left Analog (Left) = A
Click Left Analog = Left Shift

Directional Down = F
Directional Right = Z
Directional Up = Left Control
Directional Left = Q

Start = Esc
Back = Tab

Accepting the fact that there are a lot of console gamers on PC or just PC gamers that prefer controller. Adding this feature could make them sold to this game. And what harm does it do to you any way_ why so closed minded about controller support_ You don't have to use it, and as they all say keyboard and mouse gamers have better accuracy and precision any way. :P

I +1 the controller support, and I'm even not a console player.
Can't imagine that their would be any disadvantages for the mouse/keyboard players by implementing it.

I think it would be great to play this game with a game pad.

I am using an xbox controller with Xpadder and it works great. You have to use the controller to launch the game or it doesn't recognize it at all.

I think this game might work just fine with a controller actually. I'll stick to the mouse and keyboard myself though.
But yeah, +1 on the controller support.

Yeah I have seen it, It looks pretty awesome but it's not my type. I like to sit back on my couch and just game with a controller in my hands.

Just wanted to pop in and say that legitimate gamepad support is planned for Hawken.

I agree with having gamepad support as it would help those who are more comfortable using a controller and the controls are pretty streamlined for the controller. However one issue I have come across playing other games with my 360 controller is when in a frantic situation, I would accidentally click my left thumbstick so I hope that input will be for boosting or if we could remap the keys.

OP's button layout is a bit odd in spots. Here's my layout:

A: Interact
X: Use Item
Y: Use Special Ablity
B: Heal

dpad-up: Toggle Map
dpab-down: Call For Help
dpad-left: Cycle Item Last
dpad-right: Cycle Item Next

Left Trigger: Secondary Fire
Left Bumper: Jump
Right Trigger: Primary Fire
Right Bumper: Boost/Dash

Left Thumbstick: Spot Enemy
Right Thumbstick: Weapon Utility (Zoom/Lock-on)

Back: Scoreboard
Start: Main Menu

Putting 'Spot Enemy' on the left stick makes it actually usable. Also having boost on a stick just looks super uncomfortable.

Also as weird as it may sound I've been messing around with using a contoller for movement and boost and a mouse for shooting and items/abilities. Been working out really well. I just can't stand using the keyboard for movement.

I have tried a few things and trust me, my layout setup is the best :P
For the boost on the joystick, try and see what you think and you may find you actually like it. Basically every console game uses this for all FPS games.

My game is so laggy because I can only afford to play w/ my toaster - But I do use a controller which helps reduce pilot error. =/

I can't find the thread I saw yesterday with "deuly person name" work around - settings for basicinput.ini to make the 360 controller work.

Can someone link me please_ gonna try and get a friend to try it. He prefers mouse/kb though (but he has a supercomputer so he doesn't have to worry bout low FPS)

I don't care to much about controller support but I do want Joystick support.

No reason not to support it, but I don't know why on earth you would want to play on a 360 controller. You'll get spanked.
