When I go to play, a windows error pops up. It says "The program can't start because D3DCOMPILER_43.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem." I have re-installed Hawken 5 times and have gotten the same response each time. HELP ME! I want to play Hawken but I can't.

Windows 7_  This is a DirectX dll.  I'd try reinstalling DirectX 9, if you haven't installed it before.

Don't forget, the beta hasn't officially started yet, so there aren't any servers to play on.  You can launch the client and open some maps/spawn some really dumb bots , but that's about it.

Try the reinstall of DirectX..
Restart your computer if you haven't yet.

The d3dcompiler_43.dll error might be a fluke and a simple restart could clear it up completely.

Install the latest version of Microsoft DirectX. Chances are, upgrading to the latest version of DirectX will fix the d3dcompiler_43.dll not found error.

It worked like a charm to add the Direct X 9 on top. My client is up and running, so now I only wait for the servers to gon online.

Glad it's working.

And yes, apparently DX9 and 11 are different enough that you need to have both installed at the same time.  As hawken is a DX9-based game (XP compatibility), you need to have it installed.  Virtually every game I've installed on my machine wants to install DX9 on the initial install.

Blame Microsoft for it, they made the API.
