I had this issue before and I didn't even play the game although I wast enlisted in alpha. When I'm starting the launcher, it says "Failed to initialize downloader". And that's it. I can't download the game. Nothing helps, I tried this dozens of times. Reinstalling, redownloading, rebooting. Nothing works.

I have the same situation with Win7 x64. Seems support team are sleeping...

Turn off any firewalls or antivirus software you may have running.

I don't even have any of this kind of software. I have deleted it when it started to fuzzy bunny some of my other stuff.
