As D3Dreaper said here, compared to Hawken (much easier learning curve), MWO and Mechwarrior in general is a tough learning curve (MW4 and MW3 are a bit easier than MWO as they are more single player based.)

So it's like if players started out with G2 fat Raiders and Predators instead of CR-T. Tough start with the trials and Cadet Bonus and all.

That's why I'm loving Hawken! It doesn't take much learning to get into playing... but it takes quite a bit of learning (both by yourself and how to work as a team) to start getting great at it.
