Steam Overlay not working!

I tried reinstalling steam to no avail. I just want to purchase some MC to get one mech, but because the overlay itself doesn't work, when i press buy MC in-game, the purchase page pops up but the mouse/keyboard will not transition to the overlay, it remains in the game, in the background.
Anyone has any suggestions_ All i want is to buy some MC, since i can't buy it on their website. The community page has a link, but it takes me back to the main website index page and that's the end of that.
Help please!

Do you have hawken set on fullscreen or windowed mode_ It works for me, so its something you have set.

Tried reinstalling steam/hawken.
disabled/re-enabled steam in-game overlay.
Switched from fullscreen to windowed and back.
I'm wondering, could GeForce Experience have something to do with it_ It also has a overlay for streaming/recording/shadowplay etc. And i used it to optimize game settings for Hawken. Could it somehow interfere with steam_ I'm not sure because it never troubled me in any other games, just this one. However it didn't do when the game was still in early beta (before steam was integrated), but it still worked fine.
Now after a few months off hawken, i come back and it ain't working anymore and not sure why.
I did send a ticket to customer services, gonna see if they have any suggestions, since my title started with "Want to purchase credits but...", might make them hustle if they sniff a potential customer

I'm not sure, I don't use an Nvidia card.
Might as well try enabling/disabling it.
Have you looked for other similar problems, albeit with different games_ I don't think this problem is unique to Hawken.
Even then, I don't think I've ever heard of this happening with Hawken.

I'm going to say yes. Disable that overlay in geforce experience if you can and retest it. Once you get credits you can turn it back on.
I have 2 Nvidia cards in my system, I use geforce experience, but don't use that overlay for shadowplay, my cards don't support it.
Unfortunately, I doubt they will respond even if you wave your cash in front of their faces. I don't know of a single person that has gotten any response from support since the great communications blackout.
