A compound bow unfolds out of the arm that can charge up an explosive tipped spear/barb/etc. This round would have a light indicator on the tip of it so you can see the trace of the barb and where it sticks in a mech/environment. Upon arming it would have a small splash damage radius; possibly charge the velocity of the shot as well. I wouldn't see it do more damage then the heat gun if it had a very low heat dissipation balance to it.

I think it would fit well in the HAWKEN universe. Could be a low resourceful alternative for HAWKEN pilots to use and could act as a tracer once contacting an opponent.

What is your thoughts on this_

Sounds cool, its kinda like the Heat Cannon though, without the shooting arrows bit.

BTW, there's an official weapon suggestion thread here:

I didn't know highly technologically advanced mech suits used bows.

Thought we got over those centuries ago.

if there are paid weapon reskins (which I think would be a good idea) this could be a reskin for the HEAT cannon. Your description is essentially the HEAT cannon anyways.

Wouldn't a bow presuppose an arm slash hands_

Running with your idea, I can see some kind of spike or dart based weapon being pretty cool, ala the Needler in Halo.

I think it could do to be fairly accurate at longer ranges and maybe available for all (or multiple) mech builds.

Silence actually ... Special Forces still use the crossbow because it has virtually no sound when fired. That's also why its making an appearance in BF3 Aftermath and *cough* CoD

Ya it was just a random idea. Does pretty much sound like the hear gun. I would like to see some projectile like that.

What other cool weapon skins could go on the heat gun_ Or any other for that matter. Would be sweet if we could buy stuff like that

Looks like that bandwagon is getting pretty full.

Just like in Battlefield Play4Free, every class of soldier carries a tracer dart gun. But only the Engineer class can use an RPG to fire and lock on to an enemy vehicle. Also, anyone flying an attack helicopter can lock on with guided missiles. The tracer dart is only active a few short second or until the driver of the enemy vehicles uses a smoke screen to remove it. Something similar to this, I think, would be useful in the Hawken universe.

...Do not actually make things "silent".

Yeah, it only muffles the sound of the gun firing a bit. Doesn't stop the mechanical sound of the slide and other mechanisms in the gun though. Crossbows only have a slight wisp of the strings ...

Silent, not silent, doesn't matter.
It's all about the novelty of killing someone with a primitive weapon in a game full of guns.
It's a way of saying "My epeen is bigger than yours." Essentially the same as running around using only quickscoping, melee, tomahawks or ballistic knives.

If you're in a mech made out of metals and heavy glass. It will be hard to hear a weapon that is silenced.
