Hey guys, just tried out your game. awesome graphics style, and play style, but holy balls is it not newbie friendly at all!

The progression system lets those who're higher level basically have their way with newbies w/o any spec at all. Flat +damage/resists/speed is BROKEN when a new player, or even an experienced player rerolls.

That reeeeally has to change if you wanna keep anyone past like 30 minutes in this game heh.

Sorry, I was a bit steamed about a few matches where we got absolutely rolled by someone with a ton of levels over us (and prolly skill too mind you).

My suggestion would be segregating lowbies to their own servers via the matchmaking system. If this is already in the works, then I'll shut up :)

Great game otherwise!

Matchmaking is supposed to do exactly that. It takes things into account like mech level, etc.

As far as I know, it was mentioned that as long as you join through matchmaking, the system tries to find the fairest match for you. It knows this by each person's profile stats. Don't know if you'll get an all-lowbie server but its better than playing against mostly prearranged teams. Also, you may have a few experienced players on your team to help balance.

The Matchmaking system is explicitly designed to address this. If you join random servers through the server browser, anything goes.

It still doesn't. I think it's mostly due to the early stages. In time, and more people playing, it will amount to you getting to play with your level. Except me....cause I get killed too much :P

If you see me in-game and I'm not on your team, go ahead and shoot me. I'll be getting like 8fps, so it shouldn't be too hard to keep a bead on me.

Okay, thanks for the heads-up guys. I really like the game, but the progression system makes for some tough times. I'm not even sure it's fully skill, it's just having better flat damage/resists/etc overtop a newbie which really stinks. Otherwise, yeah it's prolly also skill lol :)

I'm an average player and the difference between a fully specced mech and a naked one is huge; a fully specced mech easily doubles your score IME.  Matchmaking is supposed to level the playing field a bit but I don't see how that can work if, say, an experienced player takes to the field with a Lvl0 mech when (s)he'll likely be playing against a flood of machines of much higher spec; massive disadvantage exacerbated by not being able to level it up as quickly owing to not being able to score as well due to the relatively (and artificially) harder opposition.

Edit: Typos.

If you lose, complain about how OP the sharpshooter is.

The matchmaking system is broken..

I only started CBE2 and end up getting BBQ'd by assaults with vulcans in my low lvl'd mechs!

Or blame any MVP mech that isn't the same as yours for being OP.

Matchmaking isn't perfect, so it helps to still give as much feedback and suggestions so they can tweak and implement good ideas for the next test events.

Yeah, matchmaking isn't perfect yet. I've been in some odd games where there are people up to my level and those that are new to the game getting their mechs stomped to bits by the higher level players.

Looking forward to beta 3, hopefully they continue making the system even better. I would suggest that the server cannot be browsed and only use matchmaking so levels can keep balanced in servers.

some mechs are very op at certain levels and maps (eg heavy mech with flak cannon in Alley) ;

u'll just have to avoid them/ tactically outwit them

going head on isnt the best choice 50% of the time.

"vulturing" / choking at certain map pts and trapping/baiting other mechs is part of the tactical gameplay imho.

I wholeheartedly agree.

I have no idea why they decided that the best way to reward time investment in the game is with flat percentage upgrades which make your leveled up mech STRICTLY SUPPERIOR to an equivalent, low level mech.

I honestly believe that the leveling system in this game, combined with the vast amount of uninspired internal upgrades, the in existent mech identity will kill this game.
