I want to get into using the EOC Raider more, yet I'm a tad unsure on how to use it.

Are there any guides or tips you guys can offer?

TBH I wouild rather have the EOC be replaced with a breacher or a FLAK. hehehe.

Thanks!

^ That's a pretty old video, not applicable to today.

EOC Raider is best described as an explosive close-medium range Sharpshooter with less reliability but higher mobility and damage potential. Compared to Reflak and T32 you have slightly more range, but still operate the best at close ranges due to the projectile nature of EOC . It operates best on tight maps where you have space to fall back into cover. EOC Raider is strong against predictable ground based targets and weak against aware opponents; if you want to avoid an EOC Raider, it's easy because of a lack of remote deto secondary and lack of hitscan. This is why EOC Raider is also absolute garbage at dueling, outside of a Blitz clutch.

First off it's best not to operate alone, as it's not very effective. All other primaries are better at soloing by being able to kill enemies faster and more reliably. All that burst is useless if your enemy doesn't die shortly after a successful salvo. You will want a hitscan + remote deto buddy with you to provide DPS to either weaken enough for you to 1-shot enemies or finish off enemies you've left hurt, along with providing superior midrange anti-air capability. You can either be trying to go for the enemy's side for a more reliable shot (especially against repairing targets) or spamming the frontline with projectiles (don't do this for extended periods as other mechs are much better at this).

Second is high ground, you will want this on any map, not only to yourself having often better cover, but to deny enemies having high ground on you. EOC Raider, however, isn't very good at holding high ground so you will want teammates there as well. If you're able to, stay off the radar and try to ambush enemies with a full salvo. You can use Blitz as a pseudo-cloak and walk around cover fast. Just remember that ability sound is audible up to 90 meters which might very well alert opponents despite you not showing up on radar.

In a fight, since your weapon cooldowns are both longer than dodge cooldown, it's important to maximize the damage by not firing both at the same time at an aware opponent. It depends on the situation on which weapon to fire first, and whether you should be using the Grenade or MIRV mode, but as a general rule of thumb I've noticed that it's better to start with the weapon that the enemy is the least likely to avoid and then lead with the more unreliable one; pressure with the first and punish with the second.

Because of the long cooldowns you can afford to boost around more since it won't affect your (low) DPS. In a CQC situation you will want to avoid being tracked or lead for projectiles. In these situations it's good to use Blitz as it will allow you to charge your EOC and pick a correct time to unload your salvo, which should be after the enemy dodges either because he is trying to get a better shot at you or trying to predict when you're going to shoot.

There's also this montage by Dorobo, while it's not a guide on how to play it can give you an idea of when and where to shoot things to make explosions.

Basically what kopra said. I also got good at it by only using the corsair, then only using the eoc, then combining them. Now I'm pretty bad at it because I haven't played eoc raider in a long time and am not used to the leading speed. Also have played like 5 matches in the last 5 months!
prematurely declared king of typos, unreadable posts, and stupid threads.

I agree 100% with what Kopra says, they know what they're talking about. EOC raider is a mech you want to use mid to long range as has been mentioned. When you use Blitz almost never boost unless you're descending upon someone from a great height or using the AC in a fancy way that I particularly like to do. Against a group of enemies find the nearest corner and blitz just far enough out to shoot while being mid-air, then air dodge backwards angled toward that corner you found. Keep doing this until they scatter or they get close. You want to use this on groups because it greatly increases the chance you will hit as well as doing damage to multiple targets. When you fight, always face your target as directly as you can. The more range you have on them, the less you have to correct your aim for their dodges. Learn to kite well. Make them come to you. If you have no-where to run find a hiding spot and the moment they get to it haul ass past them and find the nearest corner to avoid fire and either turn to attack or continue evading. Almost always use the grenade mode on your secondary because it mixes the best with the EOC and is much easier to secure damage with. To get really good at hitting targets mid-air and/ or across the map just experiment with shots and don't psych yourself out. The one thing to always keep an eye out for is when any enemy turns their back: because that's when you strike. From a long distance it's easy to gage where an enemy is going to flee to so you can anticipate their movements. The first few moments somebody flees they usually follow a linear path which is great for the corsair and EOC. One last thing: don't float in the air because you will die very quickly.

If somebody is flying around, run like a little b*tch.

Unless you can aim your MIRVs, which I can't.
