Puma paw doesn't give a fuzzy bunny about your opinion.  In the end I own a house support a family and do not need public assistance and live in my mothers basement.

So life sucks. But I will not stay in a game where the teams are so unbalanced by 2700 plus mmr players in team speak. So live with it I do. Actually I spend more time in other games with far better individuals then you will ever be. Because all I found here was team bully. So devotion life will only treat you as you tend to bully others. I suppose a video game is your life. Grow up and try the real thing you might make something out of your life. Because a game will not support you or provide for your needs.

First, you could join a clan...  Yes. I know.

Second, I unbalance the hell out of games all by myself, no TS used or needed.

Third, you could stay.  You could work with your team in a coordinated way to overcome the other, individually superior team's membership, who cannot overcome your ability to work with your teammates and kill them nonetheless.  You've ACTUALLY done this to me, Puma.  You may just not have recognized it, nor overcome my adjustment, but you are capable of the feat.  I've seen you do it.

In the end I own a house support a family and do not need public assistance and live in my mothers basement.

I'm on my fifth house now. They get easier with practice.  And my kids don't live in my basement, my house doesn't even have a basement, you can call home and ask my wife.  (bonus points if you remember the CDB song).

The immediate dehumanization of anyone who's good at games by suggesting they got gud at the cost of quality of life is ever entertaining.

You're thinking of the "mode". The mean is the average.

Now lets see if I can keep Luna from beating you bloody with one of his degrees

ahh, my bad then, thanks for the correction, and if Luna does, i deserve it

in math the mean is the most common number, like, if we have 4 guys at 1200, and 1 at 1800 and 1 at 2900, the average mmr of that server would be 1500, so thats where the game considers that server for matchmaking, but the mean, or most common number is 1200,

i wonder if that would help the matchmaker in any way, if it considered the mean.

I think you're describing the mode, but that a damn fine idea.

Mean - average

Mode - most commonly occurring number

Median - number in the middle of the sequence

As a player around 1850 mmr, I am also able to completely unbalance games around 1600 avg or less. What's your point?

Most of the time (or at least my), pick-up games are not coordinated through TS.  Although I was there at the beginning of the Unofficial Hawken Teamspeak, I generally only use it when playing TPG.  That's pretty rare, as Amid or Crafty will tell you.

Shrug.  I get a lot of practice, and don't sit around waiting. I'm competitive by nature, but the organized-play thing takes way too much time.

As does composing high coo.

^But, as we've all generally acknowledged, there is no way to tell or control the level in a match.  It always ends up escalating into a higher ranked server as the match progresses and gradually higher and higher mmr players are able to join.

Yeah. Which becomes the only high-ranked game around, while low-ranked games outnumber it 20-1.

if it escalates into a higher mmr server, then matchmaking has effectively accomplished it's purpose of isolating the "game ruiners" into a single server. other players are free to join other lobbies at-will.

EDITED FOR CLARIFICATION AND BETTER WORD CHOICE: clarifying which statement I believe is a fact and to say that "this is the way I experience it from a 1950 MMR perspective - your experience may differ.

That match becomes the high ranked match... until the end of the match, where everyone leaves.  So then, everyone goes on to form new matches/join matches in progress... where the low MMR players are the first to be able to find a suitable match, then 1900 MMR players join, which lets 2050 players join, which...

Yup, just like that.  This is how it always works in my experience.  It's why I think high ranked players end up suffering through sitting in the matchmaking queue for 3+ minutes between every match.  And it's how I think newbies and low MMR players get the impression that high ranked players are constantly jumping in and crushing their good time.

I'm not blaming high ranked players. Period.  Also not blaming low or medium.  I'm just not.

I believe the following single statement is a fact:  The player-base is simply too low for the way the matchmaking system is meant to work.  I still honestly believe the matchmaking and auto-balance in Hawken works damn well... under the high player population for which it was designed.

Apart from the population issue, the real problem, in my estimation, is with a lack of incentive for players to stick with a server.  There is every reason in the world, even built-in incentives for players to leave after every match, but nothing to encourage them to stay.

If the "Daily Win" bonus was only awarded to players who had been in the server from the very beginning of the match AND there was a multiplier bonus applied for "X number of consecutive matches in the same server"... it would go a long way towards keeping full servers of balanceable teams of a similar skill level open and going strong.

False assertions. False assertions everywhere.

Nah, I'm done here.

This is pointless. No idea why I keep responding to MMR/matchmaker threads.

Yup, just like that.  This is how it always works.

That's honestly not my experience here in EU.

Good players tend to stay in good servers for a while over here, untill they've other things to do.

There is every reason in the world, even built-in incentives for players to leave after every match, but nothing to encourage them to stay.

If the good players leave here there's usually no other server availible to them, so if they leave their spot may get taken.

From the previous posts in this thread I assume it's pretty much the same in the US.

No offense, but I don't think you should call your assumptions there facts.

I'm pretty sure the post above me is about that as well.

As a US player this is the same experience I have. There's usually only one or two public servers tops that I can join at any given time. I will park in that server for hours if I can. If I'm leaving a server it's almost always because I'm done with my Hawken session. Why would I leave the server where I'm getting the best gaming experience I can have out of all the servers available? I genuinely gain nothing by going to a lower-MMR server. I feel no joy stomping lower-MMR players. My skillset doesn't get any better. My presence in those servers probably doesn't make any of the other players feel better about the game, so I'm not doing the community any favors - and it's a community I want to grow. My teammates aren't as likely to pay as much attention to the map or to teamwork as much as I will, so I'm probably not going to feel good about the match either.

I'm willing to bet that nearly every 2250+ MMR player agrees with the above.

Good point.  I didn't mean to say that anything except one sentence was what I think is a fact.  So I edited several key points in my post to ensure everyone realizes I am citing from my own experience (the only experience any of us can have).
