Thanks again to everyone who contributed, i hope you enjoyed!

There were some people whose raw content was available online, but it was unedited and extremely lengthy- after going through a bit of it, i came to the conclusion it just wouldn't be feasible, and that i had enough content already. I tried to use an even amount from each contributor as well.

 

Please criticize!

(though, consider that some constraints existed by nature of the project)

Really nice work on the editing. This turned out really well! 

 

Definitely cool to see a bunch of different players all together in the same video. Hopefully we can get more collabs like this in the future.

I have to admit the cuts on bunker around 30 seconds in were sick as hell, but that opening sequence very nearly made me close the video. Boring, poorly displayed and I knew what was going to happen 5 seconds in advance. Also, consider requiring a standard quality because the jumps between the kinds were incredibly jarring.

I'm actually much happier with the final product than i suspected i might be, given so few submissions (think: when i make a montage with my footage, there are hundreds of clips to choose from)- but it turned out i had enough! I'd love to do this again.

Not a lot of people have the hardware to record 1080@60 in matches without taking a performance hit, and the footage is a headache to handle anyway at that quality. 

 

For this reason a lot of footage ends up being stream vods at like 720@30, 2000 kbits/s. 

 

EDIT:

It would have been nice to list the players name over the relevant footage.

Short answer: My videos are not designed to induce the mindset "Wow Cosh is so good at Hawken."

Long answer: If i'm catering at all, i'd rather cater to the impressionable average player who wants to be entertained - hyped up even - by the footage, sound, and creative mixture of those that i have to offer, rather than catering to the same 4 jaded Hawken veterans who both over-think the objectives of my videos and under-think the definition of 'impressive footage', and who will never actually be impressed by anything.

 

EDIT: Because i feel like being thorough...

After a couple videos and some unexpectedly heavy critique of the footage i used, i figured i'd make a point of using some of my better footage; this [previously most recent] montage included plenty of "impressiveness" alongside cinematic / pure entertainment footage (you know, to get back on-topic, since i'm trying to produce entertainment, not praise for my 1337 skills). That's the best it's going to get, for multiple reasons. Maybe you can watch Angels of Destruction again and start to puzzle together why [there is some legitimately impressive stuff in there, but more importantly, why] it's ridiculous to expect a video with "more impressive" footage than that.

If you're not convinced, maybe you want a next-level wall-of-text explaining the difficulties in acquiring and implementing 'impressive footage' - which i'm willing to produce - but i assure you, the sentiment is just downright silly.

Heh, i knew, but i figured it's not my place to choose your name, so i just listed the user names outright.

I think your right about that. I thought about it, but i had my reasons for not doing it- but i'm questioning that decision...oh well! Haha

Hawken really deserves some proper frag vids from matches (where it counts) with balls out multi kills and aces and clutch plays.
What it's always needed were spectate features that are now basic to comp shooter titles and their communities.

Years of not seeing Hawken rep'd in this fashion, after being accustomed to FOTW movies in previous comp communities and games has made me an angry jaded nerd when it comes to most Hawken movies.

It's not right. It's not OK. That compelling footage of comp Hawken is not showcased for all its potential.
And it results in the world perhaps never knowing what we were capable of, at the games zenith at a comp level.

Keep spamming your pub montages and don't mind me, I'm just salty about the premise that missing the integrated spectate features, the content might suffer this dilution for all time.

Ahhh, you mean during closed beta - when Omni wasn't around, and when the STEEL KILLERS reached the pinnacle of competitive play.  I too wish we had footage of that time.

only criticism i can think of is maybe include context for some clips. like the DM scout or the gren defending that silo.

idk maybe a counter in the corner or something showing the kills back to back. i think those would be more hype with that info

also i this it would have been hilarious if you kept nepts voice in that last silo clip.
