With a few exceptions, it seems like everything was pretty much decreased at least by half, and mostly by a full 2/3rds. I'm not sure I like that, but I understand the reasoning. However, I do not think the changes should have been applied to anything that wasn't strictly damage/armor/movement related. Heat reduction, radar bonuses, and EU capacities were all subtle enough to benefit a skilled player while not being necessary for a newer one.

Also, I do not think any changes should have been made for the first and second tiers. Those buffs were already too small to make much of a difference and having early upgrades be more beneficial would help new players understand the effects the optimizations are having.

That said, here are some things that stand out.

Item damage (given and received), weapon heat reduction, bullet damage, and anything else that was formerly set at 1.5% is now at either .33% or .25%. Holy fuzzy bunny. Isn't that a bit much_

Increase dodge speed, increase thruster regen rate, and reduce dodge cooldown saw no change.

Decrease damage from weapons saw a significant drop from -.5% to -.16%. .5% wasn't small enough already_

Armor increases in both the Defense and Movement trees were changed from a fixed number to a percentage. Defense went from +75 to +3.5%. Movement went from +15 to +.30%. I'm pretty much okay with this.

The final upgrades for Offense and Movement were both halved, but the Defense boost went from +4% to +1.5%. I wonder why.

That's all I've noticed so far. Feel free to point out anything else you notice.

There might be one lurking somewhere, but I don't remember where. Give me a second, I KNOW I've seen one on one of the "Sharpshooter is OP" threads from CBE2.

I strongly dislike the changes. Especially to the bonus armor optimizations. I like round numbers. now I can't get them.

Oddly, this is one of the few changes I approve of.

They should replace the values with placebo wording to make it appear more than it is... Instead of 0.33% increase call it a +33 Hawken Boost.

I actually think this is the best idea in the thread.

In comparison to some other game skill trees, there doesn't seem to be a whole lot of wow factor here, and the numbers are so small the whole excercise seems pointless.

There are some ok skills here for sure, but it seems like mostly filler, and when you're talking about a quarter of a percent, it's uninteresting and not notieacble in game filler.

I find the new skill tree is agravating at best.

I try different specs from game to game and see little to no change.
I would like to compliment my mech type with specific abilities but none of them are worth investing in.
I think i am just ging to give up on the skill tree entirely.

Click me! I dare you.

I already felt like this in CBE1 & 2...the numbers involved were so small, you wonder why you'd even bother especially now with all these nerfs! Well actually they did make some difference, if minor in CBE2 but by the sounds of it, assigning points in your optimisation tree in CBE3 will just be something to do because it is there and not because of any actual noticed improvement in specific areas.

I'll try to reserve judgement and further comments until I've actually played CBE3 but after reading a lot of these CBE3 discussion threads, I feel like the game is moving away from what I already loved and towards a tamer and more "general" experience as the game is twisted this and that way to appease all the whiners that came with CBE2...I think the bulk of my posts during and post CBE2 were more about refuting a wave of game changing suggestion threads and posts claiming various things were OP or broken when they just didnt understand the game mechanic.

Cheers,

Gagzila

By the looks of it most numbers are simply cut in half.
Did not expect that really, some numbers are just nothing at all.

As I said, a lot of them were reduced a full 2/3rds. It's rather insane.

gah these topics annoy me. its been stated many times that the optimization tree in open/release will be different with different values than it is now.
