No, this game is not CoD. But avoiding aspects of other games that would greatly benefit Hawken is a mistake. Killcams that show the perspective of the mech that killed you are great learning tools for new players and I think great consideration should be taken towards implementing this feature.

This need could be completely mitigated by a replay system! I just don't like killcams, i know its not Call of Duty bit it feels too CoD-esque.

I dont mind killacms here , since there is not much camping. I hated killcams where to replay shows enemy location ( while dying give enemy position on comms )

Situational Awareness > Killcam

Killcams are crutches for those who don't pay attention.

I support the idea of kill cams, but not in the way you're thinking. TF2/CS:GO style killcam would work better I think. It shows who killed you, what they're using, where they were. That's all you need. Personally, I don't think of them as a crutch, but they are a good rage-reducer. When someone blasts me and I have no idea what happened, it usually irks me a little. You get irked too much, you go on tilt, you're on tilt too long, you play badly, you play badly too long, you rage-quit. Kill cams would prevent the initial annoyance of dying and not knowing how it happened. Plus, there's always the option to pass it.

I believe it's been pointed out that the game sort of does have a 'kill cam' equivalent already, in that the camera orients toward the mech that killed you (and now explicitly states what type of mech the player is using). This already gives you a pretty good idea of where you got killed from.

Although I can't recall whether when killed by a sniper it also does this, or considers the sniper to be too far away and just gives you a stationary angle. If it DOES still orient toward them, though, then it isn't too hard to say to yourself, 'Alright, what vantage point does this angle line up with_ That building_ That ridge_ Must be where the sniper was.'

I don't know about you but most of the time I die I just see a flaming corpse of a mech and the camera looking at it in different angles.

There is already a GREAT kill cam in the game_!

It points your camera in the direction of who killed you

Well yeah, you kind of have to look past the burning hulk of your mech. :P

I can see the spectacular explsion/burnout fx when I kill a mech or see others die.
I don't need to see it when I die - then I'd definitely prefer a glance at what happened and where it came from.

So I eagerly support the idea of a killcam, that eases you out on your death and prevents people from "going tilt" :P
Actually I believe it's rather important to soon implement one!

It's way too easy to tell who killed you and why as it is now to make a kill-cam necessary. Also I've heard that UE3 doesn't support kill-cam.

Kill Cams are Noob cheats and to use it in Hawken is just ridiculous the maps are to small and there is no where for a large Mech to hide. <_<   I've always disliked Kill Cams in any FPS game, imho kill cams are tactical cheats  who ever invented the Kill Cam got tired of all the whinning and ranting from noobs and gave them something to use to balance out their lack of skill and in doing so also cancels their willingness to learn important skills by giving them an easy way out.  Want a Kill Cam change your name to Cam and we'll be happy to oblige. :P
