As a player I want to be able to both double tap to boost AND use key modifier.

I use double tap for sideways dodge but I want a booster button for forward movement.

What happens now is when using double tap I have to stop for a short while when I release the forward button to double tap.

There is no reason why both options (double tap and key) can't be active at the same time.

Seconded.  I'd love to have the 180° be a doubletap function, but everything else controlled by the shift key.  That would remove all the times I accidentally find myself facing a wall while in combat, rather than dodging.

I agree, being able to use both would be very nice.

I used to be a double-tapper.  I retrained myself as a shift*-tapper instead; much more responsive and you can transition seamlessly between movement states.  Not sure that having both double-tap and shift-tap would offer any advantage to me.

* Well, mouse thumb button-tapper.

Ok this NEEDS to be adressed!!!!
I die so many times ONLY becouse the Mech stops when I have to lift the finger to double tap for boost.

YOu need to be able to forward boost AND double tap.

I will report this as a bug since its so distruptive for gameplay. Especially when the Mech stop and have to gain speed.
Basiclly you want to get away fast, but all you get is that you stay MUCH longer even longer then if you would just continue hold the button because the Mech needs to regain speed again.

EDIT:
Bugged it here
http://community.pla...-forward-boost/

Again, please adress this since it destroys the whole gampelay for me and I am sure many others.

I like this idea. Even after lots of practice, I still 180 when I don't want to. (Oh, who am I kidding, I'm a panic masher... I'm going to hit everything all the time anyway... I'm a lost cause.)

[Now I'm just waiting for someone to post and say "Suck it up, you just need better skills." Every topic I've seen like this has someone come in and say something like that.]

Guys let's all move the discussion here:
http://community.pla...-forward-boost/

Since it is actually a bug and not a gameplay feature when the game behave different depending on your key layout.

Wait, what_  Since when is it a bug_  It's more like the design of doubletapping.

When I was a double-tapper the only thing that got on my wick was that thrust didn't properly disengage if you lifted the W key, it only disengaged once the mech had come to a complete stop.

Yeah, I noticed that, too.  THAT might qualify for a bug report.  :P

This. Shift boosting is basically superior in every way. :/
