Hi there,
Title says it all.
I used to love watching manga a fair few years ago, first one was ninja scrolls then Akira, ghost in the shell and guyver. Got into gundam for a while, then sort of didn't watch any for years.
When i saw this game ages ago i instantly fell in love with it, the art style, gameplay, everything :-)
So i was wondering if you guy's could start me off into getting into some really decent mech manga as my appetite has been truly whetted!

Cheers

James

More CyberPunky then mech but checkout the original 8 part "BubbleGum Crysis"!

More 'mechish' Cyberpunky stuff is Appleseed + Ex Machina and  Vexille

There was a roumer that a live action Robotech flick was in the works but I dunno if it ended up going ahead or not_

EDIT:  I forgot the 5 part "Macross Zero" series! - Link is to a 5min vid to wet your appetite(if you haven't already seen it)

"Macross Frontier"  isn't too bad either.  One episode does quite a good tribute to the old Harmony Gold series!
Also checkout "Megazone 23 Part 2" for some great old skool anime!

Watch Dougram! It's a cool military mech anime, about rebels from a colony planet fighting against an oppressive earth government.
It's kinda old, but still good!

Vision of Escaflowne (classic, fantasy + mechs)

Mars Daybreak (underwater pirates on Mars)

Mobile Suit Gundam 08th MS Team (3 short gundam series, more realistic ones)

Mobile Suit Gundam 0083 Stardust Memory

Mobile Suit Gundam 0080 War in the Pocket

Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann (not a serious mecha anime but very positive and fun to watch)

Code Geass (on my personal list it is anime number 2)

I loved 08th MS Team, I've always liked the ground battles in Gundam shows over the space setting.

Gundam Unicorn is looking pretty good so far but it only has 3 episodes out that I know of.   Just finished watching Gundam OO The Movie and it had me hooked but the ending was way too sudden and kinda anticlimatic.

I highly recommend MS Igloo 2.
It is a realistic gundam CG 3 episode film that is very enjoyable.

I would also recommend Code Geass.
Though this one takes more of a look into strategy rather than the actual mech battles. It is very psychological. If you love mind games, I'm sure you' love this.

And finally Gundam 00.
Also particularly enjoyable.

Gurren Lagann, of course.

There's a lot of stuff about it that parodies mecha anime and just anime in general. Makes it pretty hilarious at times. They actually caught a lot of flak about the fourth episode have low-quality animation, but the entire thing was intentional to poke fun at how production quality for many shows drops drastically after the intro episodes.

It's definitely one of my favorite, and the English dub is actually pretty good imo. I can't stand reading subtitles.
