Hey, guys!
I saw Hawken was in open beta since yesterday and I decided to dig in. After making an account, downloading the game, everything is patched and ready but the launcher is stuck at "downloading manifest" which turns to "unable to download manifest". The game cannot start and I don't know what to do. Can anyone help me_

I'm getting a similar problem.  After it says retrieving manifest it says 'Unable to determin current version'.

i too get the same problem, i run the launcher and it says downloading manifest and after a while it says unable to download manifest and then nothing happens

I find solution.Go to C:ProgrammeMeteorEntertainmentHawkenInstalledHawkenFiles and START Hawkenlauncher and he star again to download patch and that was. Have NICE TIME

So I just signed up for a Hawken account at the recommendation of a friend, and so far I'm not very happy.

I can't even get the launcher to start downloading the game.  I keep getting this "Unable to download manifest" message.  I have followed all the recommendations I can find on the forums; resetting the launcher, etc; and nothing works.  I have checked my Kaspersky installation, and the application is "trusted" and all network connections are being allowed.  In fact, I can see the launcher trying to make connections in the network monitor; but it shows that no data is being sent back from the server.  I have also tried "Run As Administrator" even though my user already has admin privileges.

Does anyone have any other suggestions other than "just keep trying"_  This seems like a really bad way to deal with the issue and just puts players off.  At this point I'm not even sure it's worth my time anymore.

It finally worked. I just ran hawken in compatibility mode windows xp (service pack 3). I hope I was able to help some other people with the same issue.
