Hi,

duo many of you having the constant crashes i wonder if this has anything to do with windows 8, drivers or even multiple screens. i would really like to see if this is related to any of the specs in the poll..

Hey mate,

I got these a while back, mainly mentioning things like "nvdvm.dll" and other Nvidia system files.

My specs are:

Mobo: Asus Maximus-IV Gene-Z
CPU: Intel i7 2700K
RAM: OCZ 2Ghz DDR3 8Gb
Video Card: 2 x EN560TI (in SLI)
Monitor: 1 x LCD using HDMI (1920 x 1080)
Cooling: Via Antec 900v2 case (so only air cooled)

OS: Win7 x64 /w SP1
Nvidia Drivers: 310.70 (latest at time of typing)

As mentioned, I got these errors a while back, but only since I configured an Nvidia Application Profile for it. After some tweaking I found that, my errors at least, were related to having the Texture Filtering - Negative LOD Bias parameter configured as Allow. By default Nvidia Control Panel set this as Clamp and I only had the problem when I changed it to Allow. Once changed back, the problem no longer existed (again, for me only; it might be different for you).

Hope it helps.

I have narrowed my crash to desktops as

trying to join a friend who happens to be on the bazaar map.

I have no issue loading the bazaar map when the server switches over from the previous map.  Only when I try joining a friend (or match in progress for that matter)

It basically crashes at the map transition screen.

If you look at the crashdumps and logs, you'll see that the cause of the error is

[1084.76] Log: *** FSkeletalMeshObjectGPUSkin::FSkeletalMeshObjectLOD::IsReadyForFinishCleanup() - GPUSkinVertexFactories still in-use by render thread!
.
Basically it seems to me that its still cooking the map for physX, hopefully they will catch the exception and wait for the thread to finish.

I get a crash about 1 outta 3 times during loading.  It gets pretty frustrating, but I've sent the crashlogs and all I can to support so, hopefully they will squash this, then things will be perfect.

Hey SS,

Kinda weird error, especially given that it mainly happens when you friend join. Might be interesting to start a new thread in case others have this same problem, also we don't want to thread jack the OP!

Hey Nexum666,

Sorry to hear it's still a problem. Lets work through it together.

First, which links_ The ones listed in your crash logs_

The "...HawkenGame-Win32-Shipping.exe" file is what the launcher runs when you click Launch, it's the main EXE.

Are you able to post your specs and the settings (i.e. video, audio, etc.) within Hawken_

I'll re-add my settings that produce this crash and see if there is something else that may pin-point why this is occuring, there may be something buried in a log file somewhere....

No worries, will have a look at the DXDiag file.

When does it normally crash_

I know that some people have reported optimization problems, where their CPU & RAM are never fully utilised. I believe this is being addressed.

Try running ProcMonwhen invoking a crash, to see what's happening when the problem occurs.

I'll be off to work soon, so I may not reply until later tonight.....

i found the game logs, a lot of warnings just to mention a few:

[0019.34] Warning: GetSocketByName(): No SkeletalMesh for UDKSkeletalMeshComponent RobotsMainMenu.TheWorld:PersistentLevel.R_PreviewMech_0.UDKSkeletalMeshComponent_2 while searching for socket 'Thruster_R'

[0019.34] Warning: Attempting to detach NULL component from UDKSkeletalMeshComponent_7

[0091.08] Log: WARNING: Cooking Convex For Actor: alleys_zone_a.TheWorld:PersistentLevel.StaticMeshCollectionActor_9 Component: StaticMeshActor_SMC_3140 StaticMesh: Buildings_002.Mesh.BLD_Shape_Flat_01 (Scale: 0.864762 0.864762 0.864762) Please go and set PreCachedPhysScale on the mesh to have this scale for RunTime spawned objects.

(the file is aroung 380kb)

i found this in the autoreportlog:

Uploading files C:UsersDominikDocumentsMy GamesHawkenBinariesWin32....HawkenGameLogsLaunch.log, C:UsersDominikDocumentsMy GamesHawkenBinariesWin32....HawkenGameLogsUE3AutoReportIniDump0002.txt and C:UsersDominikDocumentsMy GamesHawkenBinariesWin32....HawkenGameLogsunreal-v10707-2013.01.02-21.02.34.dmp

the path C:UsersDominikDocumentsMy GamesHawkenBinariesWin32 doesnt exist... maybe the system is searching for files there im copying all files from my installation path there now, maybe this works xD

@Nexum666,
Just calm down and relax.

First, I'm sure they are working on the issue.  2nd, posting every time you get an error isn't going to help.  I can get them about twice an hour.  If you would of searched, you would of seen many other posts on the same issue.  There is really no need to start a new one every time this error pops.  Yes it is frustrating but remember this is still in BETA.

2nd, the fatal render error is all related. Open your crash logs and you'll see the same message as mine.  I've got 164 files at 173 megs.  I have sent over half of them to the support team and I'm sure someone is looking into the issue.  We all just have to be patient.  Things take time for fixes to propagate through all the phases.

Disabling physX does not disable physX.  It only moves the physX processing from the GPU to the CPU.  This can be confirmed by going to the nvidia control panel and going to manage 3D settings, and then the the menu at the top and selecting 3d settings and then turning on the physX visual indicator.

DO NOT copy your installation files into that folder.  You need to understand the function of the ".." in that path.  (understanding dos and linux really helps here)
If for some odd reason you do not have a Win32 directory in the Binaries folder simply create one.  Its just used as a point of reference.   Thats what the ".." does, it goes one directory up from the current location, so that path

C:UsersDominikDocumentsMy GamesHawkenBinariesWin32....HawkenGameLogsLaunch.log

really means goto
C:UsersDominikDocumentsMy GamesHawkenBinariesWin32
then go a directory up,
and then directory up again,
then into HawkenGame
and then into Logs.

Binaries

Win32

Hawkengame

Binaries and Win32 are empty directorys.  Hawkengame has folders for the user ini files and screenshots and such.

Look further down in the autoreporter log, where it says sucessful upload.  Yes the link does not work, but that doesn't mean they didn't get the crash dumps.

@Diskonekted
Not trying to hihack the thread, the errors are the same.  I don't always get the error friend joining, I also get it by entering a match in progress that happens to be on bazaar. Some times it loads, sometimes it doesn't.
