Ahem...lol.

Ok. Once said that...
this suggestion is more than simple and would be something pretty good and appreciated by those players carrying an sniper weapon down there in the Colony's battelfields.

a) 2 basic wavesounds.
B) 2 different tones per ws.
c) 0.5 secs duration each one. It's just a frakking beep.. :)

You fire your sniper weapon. You hit your target then you hear a confirmation sound. You do not hit him then you hear the other. So you you know when you hit him or not.

Easy, huh_. - Now read my signature in case this is not that easy thing to implement.. well.. at this case I think is not gonna be necessary , IMHO-. :D

Um... I think that seeing his HP bar drop a huge chunk, or seeing his mech asplode would be feedback enough.
From the vids, its not like your view gets horrifically shaken and jerked into looking up to the sky from recoil.
Don't fight back. Fight forward.

Good point, Nitris. ;)

Edit: But IIRC, there's one of the latest videos in which you can't see any enemy's health bar. And during that video segment that I'm referring to, the guy was precissely playing as sniper... Maybe I'm wrong though.

You know on what video am I talking about_

P.S. I may post the link and mm:ss of it, if you whish..

I am not sure on this. I've watched the majority of Hawken video footage, but I don't recall this.

Some vids with sniper footage:

Not the latest vid but... Look around 55 secs in.

March 2012 vid.  Watch the first 15 secs.
Don't fight back. Fight forward.

I think depending on how u would like the sniper to be best played, if it is like a defensive role and like no Call duty quick scoping and what not, i think it would be smart to maybe put in like a ghost/camouflage mode, where you can render your self barley visible , to completely invisible. And make the scope in time slow, but damage high so there is a balance, you know so there isn't a guy constantly rushing and getting quad feeds with a sniper, leave that to the sub machine guns and shot-guns. ;)

Don't most FPS's confirm a hit with an "X" around the crosshairs_ You already have a range of noises the mech makes to tell you certain information...adding another, related to gunfire hits, seems to be an unnecessary addition in my honest opinion. All for a feature that, like Nitris's first reply to the topic pointed out, should be obviously indicated with context clues.

Your eyes are occupied nowhere else in the act of firing...so why would you need a sound, something to alert you to gain your attention, be necessary_

The red box and glowing yellow health bar will be apparent if you hit your target. Otherwise nothing happens. So basically if you see his health flash yellow youv got a hit.

Click me! I dare you.

You can hear sound when you hit the target as well.

Anyways and once more, this is quite an obsolete thread at this stage.

The circular reticle around my X cross hairs flash yellow with a light clicking sound when my bullets make contact in all my mechs.  This is especially helpful on infiltrators bouncing grenades around corners then manually detonating and knowing you made a hit.
You know that one guy who shot you from across the map and it seemed like you instantly died_  Yeah Sabots do that...sorry...

Direct feedback of that is not usefull at all ... it is dispensable IMO ... more stuff on HUD or more sounds to distinguish ... it would just take the "rush-flow" away!
And I don't like quake just because of that "bing" sound.
