Hello pilots!

I came across this Facebook post and it got me thinking what you all define as "pilot gear" for Hawken pilots.

Do you think his apparel is too retro for the game or just right_

Feel free to share images of pilot costumes you approve or if you've created a pilot costume already!

Needs moar goggles.
Like 10 more. Like a horse jockey. Stacked one on top of each other.
Yeah.

This reminds me, I need to make another, better drawing of my pilot. Though I still plan on having her rival Ruby Underboob in ways. After all, Ruby came after my pilot. My pilots excessive cleavage was grandfather'd in (geez that sounds dirty) and therefor must be perfectly acceptable by law. Right_

Oh wait... pilot wear....

Personally I'm thinking a EVE Online Capsuleer sort of deal. All hooked up to the Mech and stuff. After all, there are no windows on these Mechs...

I never did understand why we have visible cockpits when it is obvious that in some mechs we HAVE to be using virtual cockpits...

I am by no means anything approximating a creative person, but I guess I can point to a few designy things that I like, and tend towards what I would imagine here.

I kinda like the retro-futuristic stuff you can see in the first two alien movies; you know, the stuff that they thought was really futuristic at the time but is just laughable now_ Prometheus kinda bridged that by keeping some of the overall design the same while throwing out the stuff that obviously does not fit. However I do tend to prefer the style of the older movies.

In Alien, Ripley and all the other people on the Nostromo are basically space truckers, and they act and dress appropriately, which I really kind of like, and I think some of that is applicable to Hawken, too. According to the lore, the people piloting the mechs aren't military trained veterans or anything, these are just regular people, usually lower classes, stuck in a dire situation and are being exploited by those running the corporations for their own financial gain, consequences be damned. These guys don't have a lot of means, they just see a way to make their situation better.

Posted Image

There's one piece of Hawken concept art in particular that I really think matches what I had been imagining so far as this, and that's the piece of art that has a bunch of guys sitting on a mech drinking beer and playing guitar and stuff. That's really the feel so far as the situation these guys find themselves in, as well as the general aesthetic that I think of when I think of Hawken.

Posted Image

As far as what they are wearing once they are in a mech, it could be as simple as the clothing seen above and below; again, they are not always the most well-supported people...

Anyway, there's my two cents.

DANG!
Now i have to get Hadroncutter's picture out of my head again...

I think a suitable Mechpilot outfit should pay due to the fact that a) the cockpit is closed and "no seethrough" - hence the helmet should provide a large display and the uniform might inhabit a coolant system for the pilot. A little "Dune"-filtering suit-style-thingamadoodle perhaps...

Sorry for the silly descriptions, but it'S late and i may have got a little Hawken-overdose today^^

I imagine the mech pilots wearing something like a lightly armored modern day fighter pilot's g-suit. The g-suit helps keep the pilot conscious through the more extreme maneuvers in the mech. And the armor helps to protect them from any debris or shrapnel flying around in the cockpit during combat.

It would depend on which side they were one. Sentium or Prosk, as well as any other smaller company/brands supported. I can imagine recruits having cleaner equipment while any surviving veterans might have more personality in their attire.
So any word on a plaid shirt & jeans skin for the mechs_

i think it would be sick if we had the option to change our pilots apparel and there were a few different customes .  it would be cool to see your custom made pilot in the garage

Something tight like latex, lol. What I think:

Image is photoshopped by me FYI, the original render is from timeshift

In terms of hawken, I'd say something more rustic and thrown together though, given the styles of mechs

Looks cool, but nothing like hawken.

Though I am glad to see his left position light is correct, though the right one should be green not blue...

i would say that there would be a heavy emphasis on composite materials such as carbon fiber and ceramics.  i think that the garments of pilots for these pilots may have a lot to do with integrated control platforms in the garments them selves  especially a helmet.

Rugged post-apocalyptic tactical look. Shemaghs, MOLLE vests, gritty, greasy, dirty. A handgun on everyone's side just in case they have to abandon ship or take the easy way out to evade capture. Exactly what battle-hardened mercenaries should look like in a post-apocalyptic environment with very little supplies.
