If you want something pleasant like a blended but significantly more tasty, reach for one of the smoothest and sweetest Highlands. Honeyed and mellow for a good "anytime" drink.
Or you can go for something slightly edgier (this is what I'm polishing off currently). A little more of that oak cask bite but mellowed with sherry wood. Not a first-timer's whiskey, but it's more flexible than most straight sherry wood whiskeys.
If you're really not afriad of the edge, then reach for a good Islay whiskey. This is the Islay I will be drinking shortly. Smoke, leather, and dried fruit. Be warned, though... the APV is high to accentuate the flavors.
And if you just really want the smoke, with smoke, and some more smoke... stand up and order an Ardbeg. It's the boldest of the Islays and scares a lot of people away from Islays entirely. If you get the right one to suit your tastes, though, it can be a truly glorious glass of Whiskey.

I met a man once he was a great dancer. He was good looking and strapping in his brown skin. He never quit and never gave me a problem i couldnt handle. He helped me out when times were tough and when the party was good I always saw him beside me. I can honestly say he was a man above all men. If i recall his name was Daniels. His friends knew him as simply Jack.
