In all honesty, I am IN LOVE with this game. everything about it is nice (Im a newb).
It would be interesting if there where 4 legged mechs. and they all had special abilites
EX:
Heavy: can take tons of damage but turns slower and walks slower. (Has rockets on top of chassis)
Med: can take moderate damage and has standard turning and standard walk speed. (has rocket and minigun also on chassis)
Light: can take little damage but is super quick like a leopard (not really) (has dual machineguns on chassis)
Edit: Or other stats and such.
What do you think_
Also my first post :)

Being a Lone Wolf has it's ups and downs. I don't like team work unless it is absolutely necessary, But i tend to be a team player with my friends.

Maybe as a new class of mech but I'm not honestly sure what can be unique to that new class specifically. Horizontal boosting maybe_

I would not like to see four legged mechs (in terms of heavy mechs) because they simply don't fit into the map style let alone the gameplay style. One of the few recent games I've seen four legged mechs in was Chromehounds/MAV which is a very open style mech game. Artillery and heavy long range combat is what would be very logical if they were introduced, something which doesn't occur in this game type with all the obstacles and invisible walls preventing lobbing grenades over buildings.

I could see this being usable in a specialty game mode, like a new form of coop or something.

Like the Class_D mech would be used as a "selected by random" style game mode, and that person has to get said mech to a certain point with their team protecting them from the bots or something.

But added to the game, I don't see it being very viable. It's hard enough to get a team of turtles off a cap point. Imagine having four different four legged heavy mechs just camping on a single spot. Immovable.

Imagine an A class with the ability to switch to four legged mode with a melee attack, that would be so cool.

No thanks

sounds like a lot of trouble to me, I can't even fathom how much work would go into this and all the problems that will arise

But I suppose it does sound cool

From a style alone standpoint_ A four legged mech would just be a different heavy mech, with a more downward expanded hitbox (because of the legs) rather then the upward expanded hitbox (thanks to the winglike shields) that the traditional heavy mechs have. If the 4 legged mech is to be radically different then A, B, & C Class_ Some kind of D class_ It might fit into a completely new map type, I don't know that an even slower then heavy mech would fit into current game. It might work, it might not, depends on many variables. However, more mechs = more awesome.

Hmm, I was about to go make a thread about 4 legged mechs.

I see a lot of people being their usual selves (ie. really bleh about new ideas)

4 legged mechs would be amazing. And yes, they would fit perfectly, despite what people think. If you read the lore, the mechs are used by the coporations for more than just fighting, they also use them to help with mining, so what better type of mech than a 4 legged one_

I am of the belief that 4 legs does not always equal more speed, or even stability. 4 legs allows for more agility, more ways to postion yourself and move. This of course leads to the idea of what most would call a "spider-mech."

So, my idea goes something like this:
A type A mech, whose ability morphs it from two legs to four (why do we not already have more morph abilities like the heavies!_).
While in 4 leg mode, it would have the same speed, turning, etc. BUT, it could not boost, or jump. HOWEVER, it could climb up walls and such, thus allowing it to sit in postions otherwise unavailable to other mechs. All you have to do is leave the same boundaries that you have for jumping (like how some buildings are "too high", or how some places have those force fields, those would be un-climbable).

Next, the Spider-mech (as I'll call it) should be given mid range weaponry, close range doesn't suit it (too weak, and can't boost or jump). And long range weaponry would make it... Overpowered in my opinion.
In the end, it becomes a very good ambush mech, one that can sit above you without you knowing it (since it doesn't need to jump, it doesn't go on the radar!). Also, it wold be good for getting at some sniper positions that are usually hard to tackle (even with jumping).

I have also now had it suggested that holding down boosting should allow it to move a bit faster, like adding nitros to the engine. Also, it was suggested that it be able to jump, but it would be a bit more like a leap, and would detatch it from any walls it was climbing on.

Now of course, I expect critiques, everyone has different opinions.
