Hmm, I was about to go make a thread about 4 legged mechs.
I see a lot of people being their usual selves (ie. really bleh about new ideas)
4 legged mechs would be amazing. And yes, they would fit perfectly, despite what people think. If you read the lore, the mechs are used by the coporations for more than just fighting, they also use them to help with mining, so what better type of mech than a 4 legged one_
I am of the belief that 4 legs does not always equal more speed, or even stability. 4 legs allows for more agility, more ways to postion yourself and move. This of course leads to the idea of what most would call a "spider-mech."
So, my idea goes something like this:
A type A mech, whose ability morphs it from two legs to four (why do we not already have more morph abilities like the heavies!_).
While in 4 leg mode, it would have the same speed, turning, etc. BUT, it could not boost, or jump. HOWEVER, it could climb up walls and such, thus allowing it to sit in postions otherwise unavailable to other mechs. All you have to do is leave the same boundaries that you have for jumping (like how some buildings are "too high", or how some places have those force fields, those would be un-climbable).
Next, the Spider-mech (as I'll call it) should be given mid range weaponry, close range doesn't suit it (too weak, and can't boost or jump). And long range weaponry would make it... Overpowered in my opinion.
In the end, it becomes a very good ambush mech, one that can sit above you without you knowing it (since it doesn't need to jump, it doesn't go on the radar!). Also, it wold be good for getting at some sniper positions that are usually hard to tackle (even with jumping).
I have also now had it suggested that holding down boosting should allow it to move a bit faster, like adding nitros to the engine. Also, it was suggested that it be able to jump, but it would be a bit more like a leap, and would detatch it from any walls it was climbing on.
Now of course, I expect critiques, everyone has different opinions.
