If you switch from one mech to another within one match, your radar is not scaled up or down until the end of that match.

You can potentially exploit that:

1. Pick a scout with fully tuned-up radar (270 m) in the beginning of a match
2. Kill yourself before the match starts
3. Switch to a different mech of your choice
4. ___
5. Profit!

It works for all mechs on all maps, in both online and offline matches.

Here's an example:

(watch the radar)

Here's what the radar looks like if I pick my fully tuned-up Sharpshooter in the beginning of a match:

Here's what it looks like if I switch from my Infiltrator to Sharpie:

No. Way.

Hah - I thought I was going crazy - I use two different Grenadiers, one tuned for movement, the other for radar - I had noticed that sometimes my "movement Gren" had the same scale radar, sometimes he didn't. They'll be the matches where I start with the radar tuned one first, and then switch to the other. I was starting to think it wasn't applying my tuning points properly.

I noticed this, too. Wasn't sure if anyone had reported it yet. It definitely gives an advantage in some aspects, but I've noticed it also throws me off when I'm expecting shorter range radar in another mech. Plz fix.

I didn't even know that the radar image scaled!
I thought it just allowed the spotting of enemy dots around the edge at greater ranges
I've learned two things in this one thread alone  ;)

"To the untrained eye this chart may indeed appear to demonstrate a steep and sustained downward trend; however, what you're actually seeing is the line being dragged down because of the strengthening gravitational pull of a player base that is actually increasing in density.  Rest assured, this is all going completely according to plan."
