So, yeah, we know you can use the shield to make a safe place to not get sniped while you heal on a cube or tech (or both at once) But did you know that the shield- GASP- Can be used on the offensive_!

Throw it at a C-Class in turret mode and, since it can't shoot out, you can stop them from shooting at you for a while. The time it takes to get through the back end, through the shield, and then the front end will be enough time to take out some of it's support, and that could save your life and the life of your teammates.

If you just need protection_ use a blockade. A Blockade can be healed.


Blockade: Use it like a Shield.
Shield: Use it like a grenade.
Know the difference. It could save your life.


But seriously now, anyone know other interesting used for the shield_

Throw it over an incinerator if you think he's going to use his special ability. It's fireproof!

It does still occasionally glitch and stick to other mechs.

It's handy to drop in a choke point if you/your team are retreating.

If your'e about to charge an area full of opponents - throw it in (by holding down the use button for a little longer), then charge into it, giving you cover.

Annoy people by dropping it, running in, they when they come into it - leave, then run back into it. Repeat this over and over. They'll go crazy and it might buy you the time you need to survive.

Blockade is a good way to stop pursuing mechs in tight corridors or hallways; sheild is fun to throw down in between the skirmish line, good A class pilots can use it as a temporary tactical advantage for gaining ground

Mostly, I've been using it as a decoy.  Drop it somewhere that can be just barely seen from around a corner or over a barrier... then move away and wait for the enemy to come investigate... and hit them in the back while they're checking it out.  Also works to draw enemies away from an objective - mostly the ones who would rather get a kill than hold the objective and win.

I still don't really care for the new shield though.

I sometimes use it to bait people into close proximity.

Probably not a very interesting use but you can trigger EMP effects easier on opponents when they are near the edge of the globe. Although you might get EMP'd as well, it could be an important breather and a chance to disengage to a more advantageous position.

i like the emp / shield thingy, where it messes up the mechs inside the shield too.  it's a beautiful item]

I miss sticking the shield to your teammates mechs- that was by far the coolest use of the shield.

Usually drop shields in hallways to force an opponent to stop, or eat a TOW as soon as they run though it.

It's like a 2 part barrier that you can run though.

Put it up and charge up your breacher...sucker walks into shield(IN A STRAIGHT LINE) to try to attack u and BAM!

As an infiltrator the shield makes it a bit harder for them to spot me if I suddenly change direction, or maybe it's a placebo effect.

:)Try throwing it on to an enemy to prevent them firing for a short period while they have to break the shield or iof a heavy mech lumber out.
