I forgot I had that nvidia promotion so I decided to claim it and I now hav 7200 MC and 9500 HC. I am not sure what I should get. I can either buy a bunch of mechs and play around with them, or do my research, find the best mech for me, and use the rest for upgrades and other stuff.

I'm sure this question is probably asked a lot and it also depends on my play style. I am not sure what play style I like. I like to bounce around from sneaky to assault or Demolitions.

You can either unlock a bunch of mechs or you can save that MC for things like skins, chassis parts, repair drones, and/or thrusters for your favorite mechs. Then spend a small amount of MC on XP and HC boosts so you can get enough HC to buy mechs for free and rank them up faster with the double XP.

Or you can meet in the middle and unlock only one or two mechs and use the remaining MC on boosts and cosmetics. It's really up to you.

Sounds like you need more than 1 mech. But aside from that, the predator seems like a decent choice for you.

I am kind of upset about the complete lack of promo codes for any new players to use. I can read about the thousands of points given to other players in the past, but not one single code active now.

NEWRECRUIT is a (3 day_) XP booster code that is still active. Do research.

I did do research and was waiting for someone to piss themselves in order to point that out. I meant other than NEWRECRUIT, which is a booster and still requires you to play a lot to get any value out of it.

I am referring to the codes I have researched that gave 20K HC, or other promo codes for thousands of points. We do not currently have anything like that in its current fashion. Once more, every time I personally have tried the NEWRECRUIT code it tells me it failed.

I think the lack of promo codes is due to a large lack of hype for the game right now. When Hawken first hit OB, there were a ton of codes flying around. However, as the beta continued, hype died down and websites stopped posting about Hawken and giving out codes. No more websites and companies posting about Hawken, no more codes, I think. I would love to see the return of the codes though. It significantly reduced the grind for me when I first started out.

Hawken needs a massive advertising boost to get hype again and it won't really happen right now because of the media absorbing giant that is Titanfall. I feel Hawken wasted its hype in the early stages of OB and nobody is that interested anymore. They'll need more than a Steam release to build hype and get websites and companies reinterested in Hawken, I feel. I'm not sure how though.

As for your failed code redemption, try contacting support via ticket. Maybe they can help sort you out.

My advice_ Before you do anything else, figure out what mech you wish to play. Use this guide for reference. Once you've decided upon a mech, look around for a few specific guides to see what they say about items, internals, the like. Unless you're drowning in HC (and you're not), I'd highly advise against buying stuff willy nilly.

As for your MC, I'd use it to buy cosmetics. Keep in mind, however, that though camos, thrusters, and drones are universal, new parts are mech-specific. Make sure you like a mech before you make it pretty.

Yeah, but dude, we are at 1750. As much as we would like to be Professional Yolodrivers like you [Meraple] and Lightangel112, we're not there yet. It's something to aspire to, sure, but there's a lot of ground to cover.

Save your MC for cosmetic stuff. Don't buy a mech until you've test driven it or you may be disappointed.

Look at the game guide, read about all the mechs, and pick the one that you think is most suitable for your play-style.
