Idea.

How do you like the idea of self-sacrifice in Missile Assault Mode:
- jump on the silo and rocket kills us but our base does not suffer damage. So far the rocket ignore our presence on silos.

This could give the victory in close matches.

At first glance and from both balancing and game mode mechanics standpoints I would not consider this as fair-play. I may be wrong on this though..

Obstructing the opposing team's missiles may limit the amount of damage your base receives, but in doing so the sacrificial mech is removing themselves from the battlefield. Additionally, every time a player dies and respawns a small amount of damage is deducted from their team's base. Whether or not this makes up for the damage your team would've afflicted otherwise, I'm not sure.

My hunch is that this kind of behaviour leans just left of zero-sum.

I been to look at it more as a play in the final seconds.

You'll never out mech the missiles and other team though_ They gain both the silos and don't have to wait to respawn, while your team holds of maybe 2 or 3 missiles tops_

Maybe it's time for an extra fence or force shield around those silos then.

Edit: At first glance, I find this tactical possibility as pretty unnatural for this game mode.

Actually, the missiles will now destroy your mech and then continue to the target.

On the contrary, that's coherently fair; IMHO.
