On a fresh install of Win8. Sup_

I'm on win7 and I get this error as well- unable to play.

I am getting the same error with windows 7 x64

Delete HawkenLauncher.version and it'll begin patching.

i deleted that , but still the same error.

do i have to have the alpha 2 hawken installed to run this _

cause i removed that ( uninstalled it )


edit : thought i had it uninstalled - but programs and features didnt uninstall it properly , it still is there - files and folders

anyhow i am going to test installing closed beta after i renamed the old alpha 2 folder

When you asked that question, it was 3am for the devs.

Make sure you've uninstalled any Alpha versions properly before installing the closed beta client.

Uninstall the Alpha version and then reinstall the Beta.  It will list as Hawken in the control panel / uninstall program list.

I made the mistake of installing the game on top of the alpha and got this problem.  A clean installation fixed it.

Have you tried loading the game from the folder the game installed to (and not clicking a shortcut):

c:program files (X86)MeteorEntertainmentHawkenInstalledHawkenFilesHawkenLauncher

I clicked a shortcut last night and I got the 'unable to determine' message even after running the uninstallation.

I made a shortcut myself to the launcher.exe myself.

What seems to work for me is deleting the hawken.version, additionally to deleting hawkenlauncher.version

yes this is the best way. i've installed the beta with the alpha still on my computer and wit both files deleted it worked.
