They are made to look like barely funcional machines made from scavenged parts and other vehicles. The original SharpShooter was clearly built out of a tank turret, for example.

Unless you can somehow find a giant CRT TV that can fit a pilot inside along with all the other parts. I would say it was purposely built to look like a TV.
