Just installed the client and when I sign in I receive this message. Pressing the 'verify' button sets it to "waiting for download" for a second, then tells me it cannot be verified again.

Is this something to do with the servers not being up until noon, or is it a problem with my install_

Mine gave this error but windows was downloading the Microsoft .Net framework update (i'd left my pc on overnight and it had gone to sleep, when I woke up it was at this stage of installation where it required my consent). I clicked OK on the .net update and it finished, restarted my computer (forcefully annoyingly!) and then Hawken verified just fine on the restart.

So presumably, make sure your .net framework is up to date and that any updates have been completed.

Note that you can still login to the game, you just have to go around the launcher.. go to C:Program Files (x86)MeteorEntertainmentHawkenInstalledHawkenFilesBinariesWin32 and run "HawkenGame-Win32-Shipping.exe" and that will load the game while we wait for them to resolve the bug

Hopefully they will be able to resolve it before then

Thx for this ne0ge0 ^^ managed to enter the game for the first time, have a sneek peak and adjust my settings cause no server activity atm or any singleplayer training.

Launcher still giving me "Unable to download meta file"

The beta isnt availble yet:

"The servers will open around 12:00 PM PDT on Friday, October 26. They will be available all weekend and will close Monday night, October 29 at 11:59 PM PDT."

Got this same error message. I was able to log in and customize my mech earlier, right after the download. Went to bed and woke up a few minutes ago and tried to log in again. But this time got "Unable to download metafile". Has any of the devs found a solution yet_

I was able to get in last night and earlier today without issue via the launcher. It wasn't till about an hour ago that I tried to get in and got the same error message. I am thinking they may have changed something on purpose to stop you being able to get into Hawken and stem the flow of pre-beta posts as there are some people out there already complaining about various things who obviously can't read that the beta was downloadable but the servers won't be live till 12pm PDT 26/10 which from a facebook post seems to be around another 9 hours from now:

As pointed out in another post above, I found you can simply run the game exe to get in still and play offline for a bit of pre-beta testing. They did say a patch will be released just prior to beta servers going live so expect changes
