Just droppin' in the say hello.  I play a lot of games, from UO on a free shard to the latest fps shooter.  I saw Hawken on STEAM when it arrived awhile back but was busy with life and probably other games so didn't pay it much attention.  Recently after being on a SMITE kick I ran into this again.  I played the heck out of Unreal Tournament and Unreal Championship for the Xbox maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaany moons ago so this game concept was something i was familier with.

I have been playing during my freetime for the last 3-4 days and have been pleasantly surprised.  Like many gamers I am wary of free to play games due to hidden or not so hidden pay to win mechanics.  I am glad the devs went with the cosmetic side of the model rather than the uber equipment (etc.)

I tend to jump from game to game quite a bit but this Hawken seems to have my attention for awhile.  Like a lot of the reviews said its a lot like UT with mechs.  In a world flooded with fps basically ruled by the EA (ORIGIN) downloadable content every 3 days model this was a breath of fresh air.

Also wanted to say thanks to SoldierHobbes11 and some of you other community vets.  The Youtube videos and guide on STEAM by Saturnine were extremely helpful to a new player.

Hi, I'm very happy that you appreciate the community made content. The game is indeed interesting and unique, and the guides are very helpful. I'm so glad you're having a good time. Make sure to check the clan hall if you're a veteran gamer, I know they all like being in a solid group where learning is easier and playing is much more fun and organized.

Welcome to Hawken. I also benefited from those guides as well. There are so many more guides though, just poke around the forums a bit and you'll find everything you need to know.
