1) I suggest getting everyone up on the highest blue wall platforms in Berserkers on Front Line and have a king of the hill death match battle royale in 5 rounds. Last person alive at the end of 2 minutes on the platform wins the round.

2) ^ same but different mechs (no snipers or Incinerators)

3) ^ same but ONLY Incinerators.

4) Guard duty (modify as necessary)
  • 12-player DM, allowing teams to be the same between 2 matches.
  • Team A has 5 snipers (SS or Reaper) and any 1 C-class
  • Team B players must use a max of only one of these each: Scout, Berserker, Technician, CR-T, Assault, Assault G2, or Raider
  • Team B's objective is to effectively use teamwork to kill the C-class as much as possible (try to avoid friendly fire!)
  • Team A is allowed to stay in one place on the map or move freely.
  • IF Team A decides to stay in one place, at 6 minutes into the match they must move to a new position on the opposite side of the map.
    (E.g if they are in the SW corner, they must move to the NE corner. If they are on the West side, they most move to the East side.)
  • Before the start of the next match switch roles so each group gets a chance at offense and defense.

The team that kills the C-class the most wins. Mix teams and repeat.

5) Retro CB Night
  • Only Freds
  • Primary weapon of your choice
  • No Air Compressors
  • No Air 180
  • No reduced fall damage
  • Only 1 Mk-3 item equipped
  • Only turrets, detonator, or HE Charge for items

DODGEBALL:

Find an elevated platform just wide enough to fit 6 mechs on where rocket turrets could be deployed around in a semi-circle or arrayed in front without any obstructions. Doesn't matter how low or high the turrets are just as long as they can all reach a good angle of the platform.
You do that in a TDM with 1 team on the platform and the other team all drop rocket turrets around the platform. The other team members try to stay alive as long as possible without anyone using weapons.
They'd have to try to avoid running into each other and jump around to avoid getting hit. At first the turrets would target whichever person is closest, but eventually it'll be 6 targeting 1 person all at once.

For extra chaos, we could do a 12v12.

For 6v6 this might be best on Origin if you put people on the high, thin horizontal platforms on either side closest to the AA and place turrets on the opposite side. That would give them more distance to avoid rockets but make it much easier to fall off.

For 12v12, on one side of the map you put one team on the big elevated platform and turrets on the same thin horizontal platform facing them.


DODGEBALL 2:

Two teams line up against opposite walls in an open area and lob grenades at each other. No boosting upward, only ground and dodge movements allowed. The team with the last player standing wins the round. Best 2 out of 3 wins the match.
For added fun, each player can use 1 Blockade. It could potentially protect them at a clutch moment, or an enemy could bounce a grenade off the wall behind them and get a bank shot while they're trying to hide.

For more retro themes, I recall two tests we did in Alpha where we could only play as 1 certain mech each time. One was the Bruiser and the other was I think Infiltrator. It might have been a B-class. I just remember the GL being the secondary weapon. Same rules as above about items and internals, but an all Bruiser or all Infiltrator match.

For Bruiser-only matches you could go for Bunker or Bazaar for lots of open air chaos, or any other maps would be good for having more tactical fighting at different ranges.
Infiltrator-only matches would be serious cat and mouse games. You could call it "Sneaky Saturdays".

I've been wanting to do this ever since I found out you could get up there. Also, a fight in the outskirts of Wreckage would be fun

-The game is over either when the truck is destroyed or it reaches its destination.
-Any mech destroyed during the game cannot return to the fight.
-EMP and ISM items are not allowed (only because it would be to unfair).

All of these ideas sound like stuff well have to test out this friday. Any other ideas are definitely welcome, though we may not be able to get to all ideas this week. We will definitely continue to try out any ideas that are suggested. Who knows, maybe some of them could become staples of Funtime Friday!

This is why I said SS only + 1 C-class. Nobody would be able to spam an A-class Heat Cannon from distance without risking getting instantly killed. And soloing would be suicide. You'd have to work as a team together to distract and draw attention away from someone able to get close enough to attack the C-class or take out a couple SS to give the rest of the team a better chance to overpower the rest.
In any case, don't forget that the C-class can repair and could get behind a big wall or on top of a higher platform where your heat cannon can't get, even with splash damage.

As for Brawler, we make a rule that the C-class can't use turret mode or just say no Brawlers.

Personally id say brawlers turret mode isn't an unfair advantage. The healing is negligible and the speed is a horrible detriment. But maybe that's just my take.
