Hey guys,

I'm BlueD from Friday Night Gaming - A Stream to Learn Competitive Games. Me and my Co-host JoKeRRR will be playing Hawken on Wednesday, Friday, and Next friday so I'd like to know what the most "noob friendly" mech is, and what the hardest mech is.

Do these exist_ Which should we avoid and which should we play_ Also, is there a shortage of any type of mech_ Maybe we could fill that void.

Thanks guys!

The Assault is easy to use, and effective. It's good for learning the basics of Hawken.

However, if you dislike the Assault, the Reaper (a light, midrange sniper) is also a good (and cheap) choice.

In regards to the hardest mech to play, that would likely be the Predator., However, most of the difficulty people have with it has to do with the fact that its playstyle is much different from that of any other mech.

To avoid: Don't. Every mech is good. Some are easier to play, some are harder to play, but each one has its place, barring the G2 models. They're not meant to be effective, though they can be fun.

Yeah, but dude, we are at 1750. As much as we would like to be Professional Yolodrivers like you [Meraple] and Lightangel112, we're not there yet. It's something to aspire to, sure, but there's a lot of ground to cover.

There are 20 mechs to choose from. Some share the same weapon combos, but the mechs themselves come in different sizes with different speeds, armor, and abilities. You can see the full list of available mechs in the game here: http://www.playhawke...ame-guide/mechs

The mech you start with, the CR-T, is as n00b-friendly as it gets. It has the most common and basic primary and secondary weapons in the game: a sustained fire bullet gun and a straight-firing missile.
Another potential is the Bruiser. It comes with the same primaries as the CR-T starter mech, but its secondary weapon is an easy lock-on missile salvo. You simply point at an enemy, tap your mouse wheel (or assign to a different button if you have a 4+ button mouse) to lock on, and then you fire a salvo of missiles that track to that target no matter where you're looking.

'Noob friendly' mech_  As others have mentioned, it's the CRT, hands down.

It also happens to be one of the 'best' mechs due to it's design of being well rounded for many situations and play styles.  The other mechs are more specialized in what they can and can't do.

Hardest mech to play...  I also give a vote to the pred because it is so different from the rest.

and if you have the inclination to testing out a heavy class, possibly the Baddest in the bunch is the brawler. Slow (really slow), heavy, and bull strength brutal. His lighter-weight cousin, the Vanguard, is a grenade throwing flying fat hornet. The 'Which Mech' link below leads to Saturnine's Guide to the Mechs, and gives a very good similarities and characteristics rundown on all of Hawken mechs, and in-depth descriptions of each mech, weapon, and related "family" mechs.
Welcome aboard!

CR-T mech is the starter mech for a reason. The assault is just like the CR-T but slightly better. Click on my signature for more details on all the mechs in the game. Now the hardest mech (if not, the most complicated) is the Predator. New guys should generally avoid piloting this mech until they have a good amount of experience under their belts and have piloted the infiltrator AND the raider with some success. That, or you can tear your hair out learning the predator right off the bat. While I have seen exceptions, they are few and far between. If you want a good mech that won't let you down in just about any situation, you can never go wrong with the CR-T or the Assault.

Still, I recommend you guys try out all the mechs at some point. I personally have fun with all of them in their own way, but that's just me.
