Hawken Stopped Working

Every time I try to launche the game I am quickly met with this error.


I have searched some fixes such as renaming the hawken folder in MyGames and reinstalling the UE3Redlist and DirectX.

Could we get your system specs and version of windows_

I assume you have installed the latest drivers for your video card and motherboard already_

Yeah all drivers are up to date. Was the first thing I checked.

Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit SP1
AMD Phenom II X6 1055 2.81gzh
Nvidia GeForce GTX 465 1gb
8gb ddr3 ram
Asus Crosshair IV Formula


Ive never had an issue with the game before. I havent played in a few months and decided I should try it out again but after a update it just insta-errors. Ive also tried a full uninstall and reinstall but that didnt work either.

That would have been my recommendation before you had stated it.All I could really suggest is for you to send a ticket to the devs but since they haven't really said anything in...months, you would likely not get a reply soon.

Also did you try verifying the game files through steam_ Sometimes an uninstall reinstall doesn't catch everything because not everything is always deleted during the uninstall.

uninstalling Hawken does not necessarily remove Steam-associated files, so try deleting this file, and see if that changes anything for you:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\appcache

edit:  one quick test would be to see if you can launch Hawken directly from the HawkenGame-Win32-Shipping.exe in the Steam folder, bypassing the Steam app completely. also, if you desktop-link the .exe, it makes it a heck of a lot faster getting into the game!
