kind of feels like the mechs should have that as a standard feature like tanks have where you can shoot up a smoke screen to get away... would also solve my annoyance of not having melee for close up in your face moments

I guess it could be implemented as a new defense item... although an EM pulse can do the job (sometimes)

I worry that this would allow people to attack framerates directly.

Like the meet the medic taunt in TF2.

Frame rates would tank hardcore if more than 1 or 2 people used them, optimization is already sort of a problem in the game's current form.

If we didnt have to worry about performance issues, i could definitely get on board with that.

What would smoke do to stop you from being tracked on radar though_ Stick close enough with a guy or buy a Radar Internal and you can still chase it down through the smoke. It would cloak a little less laughable, at least.

You've activated my GTX 670 trap card. Your attack is nullified.

Seriously though, this made me lol for like 2 minutes.

I thought this with tree-cover when I was playing MWO, until I realized that the marks that surround a mech on sensors don't tell you enough about him to let you know where you're hitting or what kind of cover he has. You still take damage, but it's less focused.

I'm not sure if hawken's sensors are quite vague enough for it to work, but if it disrupted those as well, it'd certainly be handy.  I'm having pretty good success being undetected now that I've stopped jetting at all times and started practicing more control over my firing habits.

I would like this if it weren't the whole framerate issue. (fellow GTX 670 reporting in)
