Great vid; if I wasn't already in love with this game, that vid would definitely get me interested.  Well done.

Yup we played Alienware. If you were on Nexus then you more than likely played against us, I know Cymera, Dream, Killa, Reck all those dudes. We won a season of CGL. Topped TWL ladder for a while, but just stopped playing it because it's boring.

you missed out on bf2 man. we played that for a good 3-4 years of solid comp. i quit bf3 after 6 months or so to move onto tribes. bf3 killed the 8v8 format. i think 3 is the dying breath for battlefield related competition. and now that i think about it i recognize ur name. be sure to hit me up on steam. trying to get the comp interested player community going

Cultivating an e-sports scene in a game like this where you need to invest a lot of time in grinding your mech to full customization is next to impossible.

League of Legend.
When I've launched onto the battlefield, torn my enemies to shreds.  I stride through the field and listen, I see a ping.  I quietly take my time moving into position, it pings.  I see him...but he doesn't see me.  That feeling of making someone feel defenseless in that moment.  It is glorious!

I really enjoy the game, while it's definitely not perfect. The lack of spectator mode/battlerecorder was the death knell for the BF3 comp scene, not to mention the terrible suppression mechanic; but I had A LOT of fun playing 8v8 competitively. Especially since we scrimmed a lot with Rival, WKA, Cryo 9, a lot of really nasty teams.

The comp scene is dead though. I don't know of any 8v8 tournaments anymore, everything has gone to 4v4 squad rush.

It's been done in Korea with grindier games. Take that with a grain of salt though, as it's korea we're talking about.
If you can't stand the HEAT, stay out of the map.

It takes a week to level one class.  A week if you're slow.

Yeah, this game is not a grind, it took me less than 2 days to max out my mech during this beta, I wouldnt call that a grind. I even think the level progression could be deeper...

League of Legends is a perfect example of this.

If a team is trying to play competitively, it seems reasonable to assume that their players have already gone through the grind to get what they need.
Beep beep, Kiwi's a Chaffeemancer.
