Depending on when you were trying to download the game, these problems might have been happening:
1) Heavy traffic from lots of people downloading the game all at once
2) Hurricane Irene interfering with the Hawken servers located in the eastern US
3) Server problems

Plus, you are also downloading it from across the Pacific Ocean, which can sometimes be slow.

Unfortunately Closed Beta1 is over. So you'll have to wait for the upcoming beta event; which will hopefully be cellebrated in brief*.

Disclaimer: No real idea... but I can sense that it's not gonna take too long... :)

also, the way that the downloader works is using a combination of http (their server) and peer to peer (every user in the world). Right now, no one is in game because the beta isn't running, so the extra resources from thousands of other computers isn't there. I was hoping they would have another beta this weekend, but it doesn't seem that will be so as there has been no word on it from the developers.

Probably next weekend, but who knows for sure.... except the game devs.

don't know if it will help any, but when I'm using my computer I'll leave my launcher opened. Hopefully it will upload to you.

Perhaps, there is a teeny possibility that HAWKEN is offline while they build the software for Closed Beta 2_

I don't know why I said Irene. At least I didn't say Bob, which I experienced first-hand (although it was a tropical storm by the time the eye passed over me) when I visited my grandma's in 1991.
