When I've launched onto the battlefield, torn my enemies to shreds. I stride through the field and listen, I see a ping. I quietly take my time moving into position, it pings. I see him...but he doesn't see me. That feeling of making someone feel defenseless in that moment. It is glorious!

Very much this, especially if they plan on going the esport direction (and it looks like they are) a lot of the good players use 5.1 and 7.1 cans

I'll be using headsets with mics just for it's sheer simplicity and it doesn't bother my neighbors. 5.1 would be fine as well. Just hoping this game supports either one.

You can do directional sound with basic stereo, actual 5.1 and 7.1 support just improves the effect for those setups.

7.1 surround would sure be nice for when the Rift comes out. Double up a 7.1 headset with the Occulus and that just has epic written all over it.
