I told FRAPS to take a screenshot every second during CBE1 and ended up with some pretty cool screenshots. Anyone else able to capture any cool moments_

you know, i have a mid-high level system and i play at the lowest settings just to make sure i have a constant 60 fps, but it makes me sad seeing all these gorgeous shots that i dont have a 3000 dollar rig.

I (kind of) know that feel. CBE1 was an uphill battle, even for my $4000ish rig. I'm optimistic that a lot of cited performance issues will be ironed out and optimised between now and 12/12/12 though.

It's AMD, isn't it_ Because an Intel would give you zero issues.

Intel. It runs great! I guess I got accustomed to not having to deal with huge frame rate drops! More a matter of expectations being met, or not being met, as it were, and less about lackluster performance relative to other rigs.

Intel Core i7-3820 @ 4.0GHz, 2x 4GB DDR3 1600 MHz RAM, 2 Intel 520 series SSDs (240GB and 180GB), an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 690, an Eizo ColorEdge CG245W 24.1" LCD monitor and an Alienware OptX AW2310 23" 3D monitor, some liquid cooling gear, other bits and pieces, fans, colour calibrator, etc. Having to pay Yen for everything might've skewed the price of a rig like this compared to Europe or America. Maybe you can fill me in!

Nope, wasn't recording, but was screenshotting. If I don't record video, I'm generally always screenshotting.

Kinda got sunk by my team that round, though (I went 23/12/1, second place was 6/9/8, I had three dudes with one kill each but also over ten deaths apiece, and my score literally represented nearly 2/3 of our entire team tally of 38), but what can you do_

Okay, then I'm not sure what you meant by CBE1 being "an uphill battle." With a rig like the one you outlined, no way should you ever dip below playable framerates, even if you max everything out!

There does appear to be a general pattern to the performance reports.  An ATi GPU (of any flavour) seems to be the common denominator when it comes to poor performance, exacerbated by the presence of an AMD CPU (of any flavour).  ATi cards in Intel systems seemed to report fair to middling performance which may indicate that the superior Intel processing power is in some way compensating by brute forcing past whatever it is that’s causing the ATi cards to crater.

Interestingly, almost everyone who reported performance problems went on to report massive increases in frame rate whilst playing Offline against almost any number of bots*; so, paradoxically, whatever the problem is it doesn’t appear to be a raw draw rate issue.  I eagerly awaited CB1 after playing in CA2 and saw slight, but only slight improvement.  (I fall into the ATi GPU [6870] w/ AMD CPU [965BE] category – the second class citizens of the Hawken world it seems.)  I once again find myself eagerly awaiting then next phase; however, my eagerness is now tempered with some trepidation.

* Andromeda Online: ~25 fps avg. w/ lows of 1-3 fps.  Andromeda Offline (vs 20 bots): ~55fps avg. w/ lows of 15-25 fps.  These are my observations.
