I couldn't exactly find a thread on this so here goes.

Is the starter mech's current base skin a placeholder (meaning it will completely disappear from the final game) or will people be forced to use this microwave on legs_

Other issue is this: For some reason, the Sharpshooter is just an Assault with the alternate parts and different guns. Will each mech class have its own parts or will they be weight specific, meaning it will be impossible to distinguish between different same weight classes visually_

I guess all of this stuff isn't a major concern now in closed beta, but I'd like to know what the devs are planning for this. I've seen some alpha models and they looked terrific compared to the current ones. Wonder why they'd change them.

The microwave model is an upgrade from the current default television Mech.

I'm hoping for a popcorn maker as an internal option in the next round of the Closed Beta.

More than likely the 'ugly' mech will be what you start with and you pay for better looking parts to upgrade, in my uninformed opinion.

The serious answer is, probably, yes, TV Mech is here to stay. TV Mech, aka Fred, is beloved.

Remember, Hawken is a world where the age of plenty has ended. The factions are fighting over what's left. This means that utility walker frames are repurposed into combat mechs and get guns strapped to their arms. That's why not everything looks like rejected clipart from a Battletech supplement.

However, anything could happen between now and Open Beta. I get the feeling that the devs like Fred, though.

So the obvious question is, if a B-Class can be Fred, is the A-Class Barney_

And yet the best plan they can come up with to destroy the enemy's base, is to construct massive battleships and ram them into it.

To pronounce my name correctly, just pretend the 't' isn't there. You can also think of it as "Freno - [sodacan opening sound]"

Reminds me of a battle in Planetside,  our dropships were pouring troops and we were winning, until the enemy rammed there own fuzzy bunny dropship ours destroying our source of reinforcements.

Anyway back on topic,  I suspect Fred is here to stay, rather it remains default is up for debate but I don't expect to see it disappear.
When I've launched onto the battlefield, torn my enemies to shreds.  I stride through the field and listen, I see a ping.  I quietly take my time moving into position, it pings.  I see him...but he doesn't see me.  That feeling of making someone feel defenseless in that moment.  It is glorious!

The dev's have said in a thread a while ago that this subject to change. Or pretty much something along those lines.

If they really want to push us to buy decent looking mechs they could just start us with MWO machines. I mean, I'd instantly buy anything over one of those :P hehehe
