Why does the new look of the mechs feel very.. meh. I was in the alpha test and they looked awesome and i didnt make it to closed beta 1. but when i went into closed beta 2 i was greeted with a tv faced mech. I know there are other mechs for sale and all but when i first entered alpha one the assault looked badass but now i feel like its a tv on legs. Plz tell me that this is not permanent.

Yea, I actually 'like' the default "TV-Head" body style. It looks very basic, which makes total sense. Because as you gain EXP and money to spend, you can buy cooler looking parts and upgrade your machine. But even still I don't mind at all, the look of the "TV-Head."

Looks cool to me.

Also kinda reminds me of the robot from the anime FLCL. His head was a TV haha x) But that's just a side note.

The assault looked very cool in alpha because it was an A-class mech, those have a different structure. The assault now looks much more like the sharpshooter as it has become a B-class mech.

The looks for some of them mechs will be changed out for closed beta 3  

Just so you know, Fred (tv mech) will not look different.  There are some haters, but a lot of people really like him.

Fred is more or less permanent.

You need to keep two things in mind:
1) Hawken is a world where the age of plenty has ended and the wars for the few remaining resources have already begun. Utility walker frames for warehouse work are pressed into battle service and get guns strapped to them. The Rookie mech frame (aka Fred/TV Mech) is consistent with this aesthetic. This is why the mechs don't look like rejected clipart for a Battletech expansion.

2) We are currently playing with very limited content. The devs have promised an expansion of the options once we hit Open Beta, including a return of some old friends from Alpha 2.

Why is alpha 2 brought up in the first place_ Keep it where it belongs..

Like others have said before me; If you don't like the mech chassis then buy something else for your mech.
