Find your HawkenEngine.ini in your My Documents/My Games/Hawken/HawkenGame/Config folder.
Open it with notepad.
Press CTRL and F and then copy and paste in
ImageGrainNoiseTextureName=into the search box.
Click Find next.
Delete everything after the =
Save the file, and then go enjoy Hawken without any film grain.

There is another layer of grain, horizontal or vertical film grain lines. When combined with the base image grain it feels like im watching some bad 1970s TV show.

Mm yes, I see what you mean now. It is an intermittent horizontal buzz going from the bottom of the screen, to the top. Strangely, it goes over the cockpit as well as the visual display. Is this to give the impression of some kind of helmet feed I wonder_ That is interesting, but I digress.
I've dug around in the .ini files a bit more, but any change I made that I thought would affect the film grain caused my hawken to crash on startup.
I need to spend more time on this I think. That or, the Dev's could speak up on this subject, perhaps_
At the very least, the steps I posted help to get rid of some of the film grain. /shrug.

It'd be nice to be able to either adjust the amount of grain or to be able to toggle it on and off at least.
It doesn't add to the game experience, and i'd suggest firing whatever marketing flunky told you guys that it would ;-)
