I mostly play sharpshooter. In CB1 I was kicked once for idling - of course while camping and only scoping for enemy targets. It actually made sense to me that they don't want this to happen in this game.
Sometilmes while defending a point it can be a good idea as a sharpshooter to cover your teammates from a distance, however my experience now tells me it is not wise to stand still on the same spot longer than 1 minute anyway. Providing cover fire can be done way more effectively if you relocate after a couple of shots. This will also improve your situational awareness over the static approach. Besides, while standing still you can only cover a fraction of these maps anyway, it's not - thank god - like in BF3 where snipers can cover almost the entire battlefield.
As for alt-tabbing out to write a bug report : you aren't doing anything for either your team or the match at that moment, so the kick for idling is in place. Write the bug report after the match : problem solved.
